A Handy How-ToÂ
In the Corresponding Music box of plans, children listen to more than 50 catchy songs from Focus on the Family’s Singing Bible. These songs use a myriad of musical styles to retell biblical stories in song.
This lively collection of music will have your children tapping their toes, marching around, and singing along in no time! Little Hands to Heaven uses each original song in this album to bring a matching Bible story to life.
It is easy to memorize these song lyrics! Featuring songs about stories like Jonah and the Whale, the Ten Commandments, and more, this music is sure to be a hit with your kids. The Singing Bible sets Scripture to music, and it is perfect for children ages 2 to 7.
Box Specific Notes
We loved this music! Truly, I still enjoyed it completely my third time through LHTH. As we sang, I referenced the song lyrics booklet. This helped us memorize the songs easily! Before long, we didn’t need to reference the lyrics at all.
This music is so good that it is tempting to just play it all the time, outside of “school”. I wouldn’t recommend this. It takes away from the music being a special part of “school” time! It also takes away from the anticipation of getting a new song each week. Since each song matches the weekly chronological history theme, playing the song for the first time at the right time makes learning more connected (and fun)!
If you have a wiggly child, try marching around the room as you sing together. Purposeful movement is just fine, as long as it doesn’t turn into wild running and no singing! This part of the plans is so versatile, you can do it at the start, middle, or end of teaching LHTH. Just be sure to do it – these songs are not fluff! They helped my sons commit to memory the Ten Commandments, the 12 disciples, the 66 books of the Bible, the Beatitudes, the Lord’s Prayer, Psalm 23, the Fruit of the Spirit, and more.
Finally, when I was teaching multiple guides, my oldest son did the LHTH Corresponding Music with my youngest son. They also enjoyed doing the Bible Activity together. I taught my middle son during that time instead. They still have fond memories of it!
