Freedom Train
Freedom Train tells the story of heroic escapee Harriet Tubman and her daring quest to free her fellow slaves.
Born into slavery, young Harriet Tubman knew only hard work and hunger. Escape seemed impossible — certainly dangerous. Yet Harriet did escape North, by the secret route called the Underground Railroad. Harriet didn’t forget her people. Again and again she risked her life to lead them on the same secret, dangerous journey.
- About the author: Dorothy Sterling was an American writer and historian who published more than 35 books for children and adults. Her books pioneered culturally diverse subjects for children’s nonfiction including some of the first nonfiction works about black history, notably Freedom Train, about Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad.
