Danny the Workhorse
Danny the Workhorse was big, strong, and gentle, but he had a problem . . . Danny hated to work. When Farmer Don called the horses in for oats in the morning, Danny would stand in the far corner of the pasture and refuse to come in. When Farmer Don put Danny’s work harness across Danny’s plump back, Danny would heave a big sigh and hang his head, pretending to be terribly sick.
This worried Farmer Don and Missus Dora. How would Farmer Don get all the plowing and planting, hauling and harvesting done if Danny refused to help? Then some oatmeal cookies gave Missus Dora an idea. Danny the Workhorse learns a valuable lesson, and so can we.
