Word to Caesar is a historical fiction novel set in Imperial Rome.
Paul, left an orphan by the uprising of the tribes in Britain, travels across the empire to seek an audience with the new emperor, Hadrian, in order to help his friend Severus. Along the way he meets up with the villains who are trying to stop him, a famous charioteer who helps him, apathetic solicitors who won’t help him, and finally the Emperor.
At every step of his adventure, he remains loyal, demonstrates courage and prudence. He refuses to give up even when it seems impossible. Paul’s journey provides an exciting glimpse of many places in the Roman Empire at the time of Emperor Hadrian.
