DS and RME-should I wait a while?

The first two lessons go over short a. DS isn't picking up on the distinction between words like "cup" and "cat" etc. I draw out the vowel sounds as the book suggests. We repeated lesson 2 yesterday to give it another go. Still, he had problems. We also did the worksheets and again, he struggled. Sh...

Re: Fish out of Water

Wow Marcee...you're really rocking now. And for what it's worth I don't have a globe either, because my dc have destroyed the last 2. I keep our memory verses in a card file box on the window ledge right by the Breakfast table and we go over them before they even leave the table. Just a thought... ...

Re: Fish out of Water

Well girls, I went out and got some Post it tabs! They are awesome. I have marked specific sections in my TM (poetry, ryhymes etc.) and then marked which unit/day we are using for the day. All of my books are marked for the current day with where we need to read. No more looking at the TM and then t...

Re: 1st Grade Math LHFHG

If you plan to stick with HOD, getting the Beyond manual now to use the math activities for Singapore 1A and 1B wouldn't be bad. Then you could likewise buy the Bigger manual for the activities for Singapore 2A and 2B while using the rest of Beyond. Once you get to Singapore level 3, there are no m...

Hmmmmmmmmmm................I guess I won't have access to them then. We are dong LHFHG and BHFHG. I wish it came as a print out or something since 1A and 1B are a Little Hearts option.

1st Grade Math LHFHG

Do you still do the Math Exploration activities? In the TM the activities correspond to the Kindergarten math. The appendix only list the workbook pages for 1st grade math. For example in the TM you do an activity for numbers 1-6. Being in the 1st grade math, my son already knows these numbers plus ...

Re: Organizing your HOD year

Here's what I did with my guide this year. First I put contact paper on the cover. Then I added labeled 3-M sticky tabs for that day's plans, as well as the page of dictation we are on, the math schedule, and the current poem. Lastly I got out my cookbook holder to put the guide in. This is a real ...

Fish out of Water

I'm starting to feel a bit of panic set in. I feel like I spend more time trying to figure out what we are doing for the current day than "doing" school. Constantly flipping back and forth (thanks ladies for the ideas in my previous post regarding this). Granted, I've only been using the guide for 4...

Re: How do use your Teachers Guide

I have the strong post-it tabs as well, however, I took all the Bible verses (which aren't back there ;)) and typed them all up for the year. (and I don't know why I even said this. ) LOVE this idea! I took dd's narration page from the back, copied it and laminated it and she keeps it. Bril...
