Re: O/T Seeking Advice

I hate that you are in this tough situation! I agree with all that has been said, as well. I do work part-time, and it is VERY difficult. Every year, I wonder how I will be able to do it AND Homeschool well AND be a good Mommy and a good Wife. I feel like I don't do it well at all! But, because my h...

Rod & Staff 5 Full Speed for RtR (8th Grader)

RtR is written for a 4 day week, but I believe Rod and Staff is a 5 day a week program. So, how should I schedule R&S? Do I double up one day a week? I'd take it at half speed as written, but my son will be in 8th grade, and hasn't had alot of former grammar. And, this is what Carrie and Julie have ...

Re: Just placed my first ever order with HOD!

My BOX DAY arrived! :D I waited for the Brown Truck with Yellow Writing all day  , and when it came, I was outside and squealed with glee and was jumping up and down. :D I think the poor man thought I was a bit strange  ! Unfortunately, I had to leave, so I ran inside to open the box, just...

Re: Preparing's Aesop's Fables vs. a version I own

gotpeace91~ Thanks for the advice about looking online to see if I could "look inside" the book! (Can't believe I didn't think about that myself!) :? I did just that and looked at the table of contents, some of the fables and the artwork. The illustrations are fabulous, and the writing IS QUITE A BI...

Re: Preparing's Aesop's Fables vs. a version I own

I guess I could wait until I get my Preparing TM! :) Then, I could look through and see if the Fables needed are in my version. But, the question still remains....is the language the same? :? The language in my version is pretty difficult...not overly, but still difficult. I know that the word for d...

Preparing's Aesop's Fables vs. a version I own

I already own a copy of Aesop's Fables. It is Illlustrated by Fritz Kredel and is the Illustrated Junior Library Edition by Grosset & Dunlap. It has 143 Fables. The fables are on 1-2 pages with illustrations. I'm wondering if this version will work with Preparing Hearts for His Glory, or if I should...

Just placed my first ever order with HOD!

Now I can't WAIT to get it! It's like the anticipation of Christmas! :D :D :D

I've never even seen it in person before, but feel so drawn to it already. The Lord has definitely brought me to this wonderful place! :D

Just HAD to share! I will post again when I get it!

Re: Need direction and prayer ..... please

I have not read all of the posts in this thread, so I apologize if I am repeating anything. This is what I think... First of all PRAY fervently for your child(ren) and your husband. I'm sure you are, but don't stop! And, secondly, Creation to Christ is chock full of FOUNDATIONAL Biblical worldview. ...

Re: Reading Made Easy

countrymom~ The thread you posted was VERY helpful! Thanks so much! :D I think that I am definitely leaning MORE toward Reading Made Easy. It seems more CM in style and will work better with my teaching style. I'm sure the choice is more about teaching style and learning methods than anything else, ...

Reading Made Easy

For those of you that have used Reading Made Easy, could you please tell me about it? I think that I like the idea of it, and how it's laid out, but I've only taught one of my children to read thus far, and it was several years ago. :? Now I have my youngest getting near the time to begin a phonics ...

Re: OT-chores

I checked out Julie's schedule posted above, and all I can say is WOW! I'm not good at charts as I said, but a check off list that is detailed like that, I could definitely go for! However, that looks like something that had to be a work in progress for a long time! I love the idea, though, so...

Re: OT-chores

This is a struggle for me, too! We, as homeschool moms, just have ALOT on our plates, and the home often is what suffers...which does cause negative attitudes. I'm right there with you. I am also taking the summer to work on Habit Training/Character Building. My focus right now is to Do Your Best in...

Re: Maybe the best compliment ever.

Everytime I read posts like this I look for the "LIKE" buttons and there are none! LOL! So, had to say I love this post! I also have a mom that says she's supportive, but doesn't really "get" it, and will sometimes say that I should just put my dear children in school (if we've had a bad day, ...

My 10 year old dd will also be starting Preparing this year. I've enjoyed reading this thread as it has helped me, and will continue to help me as I prepare for our school year. Can't wait!
