Heart of Dakota Tidbit
Did you know that the HOD goal with Rod and Staff grammar is to get our children through English 6 by the time they are done with 8th grade and through English 8 by the time they are done with high school?
Have a great weekend!

I did not know that. But I really appreciate the info. My two children (Out of ten) are finishing Rodd and Staff 6th grade grammar this year and I was wondering if I could skip a year in order to get them through in time. Why do you stop at eighth grade? Also I love your posts, sorry I haven’t purchased but I have so much after 20 years of homeschooling, I try to use what I have. But you sure make me wish I had known about your program years ago.
Hello Gloria!
You are welcome and thanks for the kind words. Rod & Staff, the publisher of the grammar that we use, is a Mennonite company and they only have their children go through 10th grade. This is one of the main reasons that their grammar is so advanced.
If you have any other questions, just let us know!
Blessings!
Mike
My daughter is in 5th grade. We are in R and S English 4, about half way through. Does that mean she is behind? Or is that grade appropriate for 5th grade?
R & S English is at least a year advanced, so it is very appropriate for your daughter to be doing R & S English 4 in 5th grade An overall goal is to complete R & S English 6 by the end of 8th grade, which your daughter will easily do. Within our Heart of Dakota guides, our plans offer these grammar options:
Creation to Christ:
R & S English 4 Building with Diligence (first 1/2)
Or, R & S English 5 Following the Plan (first 1/2)
Resurrection to Reformation:
R & S English 4 Building with Diligence (second 1/2)
Or, R & S English 5 Following the Plan (second 1/2)
Revival to Revolution:
R & S English 5 Following the Plan (all of it)
Or, R & S English 6 Progressing with Courage (first 1/2)
Missions to Modern Marvels:
R & S English Progressing with Courage (all of it)
Or, R & S English Progressing with Courage (second 1/2)
Hope this helps!
In Christ,
Julie
