SCIENCE

The focus for this year of science is physical science. The Science Package shown below is a required add-on to the Economy Package unless you have your own science. Choose Option 1 or Option 2. Both options include the first 6 books listed below and the Inventor Student Notebook Pages, however Option 1 includes a Standard Curriculum Kit and Option 2 includes an Advanced Curriculum Kit. For students aged 11-13, choose Option 1. The Standard Curriculum Kit includes one intermediate logbook. If you have more than one student in this age range, add an extra intermediate logbook for each student. For students in grades 8 on up, choose Option 2. The Advanced Curriculum contains one advanced logbook. Add an extra advanced logbook for each additional student in grade 8 on up. If you have students in both age ranges, choose Option 2 and add an intermediate logbook for each younger student. This will allow both age ranges to use the program together.

HISTORY READ-ALOUDS

The Basic Package is meant to add to the Economy Package. It provides read-alouds that correspond to the history study. If you are already doing a read-aloud package with a different Heart of Dakota program, then you may choose to have your 6th – 7th grade student (or older) read these books on his/her own instead. A daily schedule is provided. In order to read these selections on his/her own, the student should be a strong, independent reader. Otherwise, reading aloud is the preferred method for using this package. This package is highly recommended, unless you need to economize.

Adding this optional package to the Economy Package extends the area of history to include more advanced, independent reading material. This package also includes additional corresponding historical information through the DVD Set The American Testimony. A schedule for the readings and the DVD segments is found within the Revival to Revolution Teacher’s Guide. This schedule extends the area of history to allow your 8th or 9th grader to use this program as well.

4TH Choice - For math, customize with one of the following math options, or use your own math program. Each set below equals one semester of math and is scheduled within the Appendix of Hearts for Him Through Time: Revival to Revolution. You will need an ‘A’ and a ‘B’ set for a full year of math. The Primary Mathematics series ends with 6A/6B. The Discovering Mathematics series begins where the Primary Mathematics 6A/6B series ends. Discovering Mathematics 1A/1B is considered to be equivalent to pre-algebra (integrated with some algebra and geometry).
