I'm excited to post about our first week with HOD. It was a busy week, as we also had swim lessons every morning, so we only took things half pace. But it was great to be back in the homeschool swing of things.

Odd couple of weeks...this is actually for the last two weeks where we schooled in between a stomach bug, 5 days in Florida with the grandparents, and a birthday :)

We finished our 6th week in Beyond and one particular day we had the most amazing discussion about the memory verse we were reviewing that day. It was Psalm 4:8, "I will both lay me down and sleep for you alone, O Lord, make me to dwell in safety." Honestly, sometimes I hesitate to discuss these themes because I wrestle with my own fears, knowing that the Lord doesn't promise everything will be okay in this life but I just followed the guide, asking the questions and listening to see what DS would say. Firstly, I was relieved that the he did realize that the verse wasn't promising that nothing bad would happen and he seemed fine with that. When I asked him what it did mean he launched into an explanation that referenced several other verses throughout the Bible (which he can quote and I can't, to my shame). He talked about the difference between physical well-being and spiritual well-being and this mortal life compared to eternal life and talked about how those who seek to save their lives in this world will lose them while those willing to lose their lives for Christ's sake will find them and when he said something that made me think of that verse where Jesus says to fear God and not man who can only harm the body, he cut me off to actually quote the verse and discuss it in the context of what he was saying. My child doesn't claim to be saved but the whole thing still rebuked and edified my own heart.

We are just beginning our journey with Heart of Dakota. This was our first week in Little Hands to Heaven. My daughter (and I) absolutly loved it! I'm not much of a blogger, but I am trying to do it more. Here is my post about our first week.
