Thank you for your reply, Carrie! :D I am using a couple of Come Look With Me art books that are correlating well with Bigger in a low-key way, but I appreciate that the hymn study is already included for me. :D We tend to just have a box of various music CDs in our school area and listen to those during meals or snacks. I appreciate that you have the benefit of hindsight as far as figuring out what to schedule when. I must admit that I have tried to include it all in the early years and am finalizing realizing not everything has to be done every single year. :) This of course is becoming even more apparent as I am adding my second child in to the mix. :)

Thanks again,
Kathy

I'd love to see your current schedule, too, Carrie. :)

Also, I've found your schedules up to the 2011-2012 year, but I didn't see the one from 2012-2013. If you had a chance to post that one, as well, I'd love to see it, as your previous ones have been a big help to me. Thanks a bunch! :)

This looks great, Sherri! :D My kids like to know what is happening next too, and the order is more important for them than exact times, though I find we don't stray more than half an hour or so from the times usually, once I've gotten a routine figured out. Thanks for sharing - this will surely be a help to other moms figuring out how to approach their homeschooling days too! :D

Julie posted this on one of the conversations about the World Geography guide. I thought I would link it here for others looking for the WG guide times per box and her schedule:

Ladies,

It seems that I get my schedule up after our school year is over and just before we begin our new year! :D Anyway, I thought it might help some of you as you're preparing for the World Geography Guide to get an idea of my boys' schedule. I try hard to use the start, end, breakfast, lunch, and recess times routinely in our days. The other time increments I view as guidelines that fluctuate, however those guidelines do help me know if I am lagging way behind in my day. So, for me the times listed really help keep me moving forward on track.

If I see a child (or multiple kiddos) are falling way behind in their day, I jump in and help them catch up. To do this, I might do all of an English lesson orally, assigning none to be done on paper. Or, I may write out the math problems from the textbook to help the child move more quickly. I might downsize a math assignment a bit if needed. Or, I might put away or set out a child's materials open to needed pages to move him along. I may write a younger child's answers to DITHR, while he dictates them to me to save time. Or, I might sit right by a child pointing out text or redirecting while he works to keep him on task. I might read directions aloud from an older child's guide while he follows them, or I might send the kiddos for a much needed break while I quickly check their work to see why they might have fallen behind. Anyway, these are just a few ideas of how you can partner with your kiddos to keep them on track and happily moving through their day. :D

Below find our schedules for the 2013-2014 school year. Cole was in his senior year of high school, piloting much of our literature and world history plans for the new guide. Shaw was doing the World Geography Guide. Greyson was doing Creation to Christ. Beau was finishing the last bit of LHFHG and doing Beyond. All of the boys finished their guides by the end of the school year, except Beau will continue with his remaining 4 weeks of Beyond at the beginning of the new school year this year. :D

The approximate times for the various subjects are in parentheses. I also designate for my younger kiddos in which room they need to do each subject. These room designations are also listed in parentheses. For my older kiddos, I only designate a room if they must be in that area at that specific time. Otherwise, they are free to choose where to do their work, as they have proven to be responsible. :D Times the kiddos meet with the teacher are noted in bold. I scheduled a needed break for work for me from 1:30-3:30, which is why the schedule looks the way it does!

Cole’s Grade 12 Schedule: Piloting much of the literature, grammar, world history, Spanish, speech, and writing for the new guide (Note: Cole's senior year had a lighter load, as I front loaded his first 3 years of high school so much that he did not have as much left for his final year. :D Needles to say, he was thrilled with his senior schedule!)
7:00-7:30 Get up / Make bed / Groom / Eat Yogurt (30 min.)
7:30-8:00 Bible (Mon.-Thurs.) (30 min.)
8:00-8:30 M/W/F Writing; T/R Greek (30 min.)
8:30-9:00 Spanish (30 min.)
9:00-9:20 Breakfast (kitchen table) (20 min.)
9:20-10:05 Math (45 min.)

10:50-11:35 Physics (45 min.)
11:35-12:15 World Literature (45 min.)
12:15-1:00 Mon./Wed./Fri. Grammar(45 min.) Tues./Thurs. Speech (45 min.)

I can't believe that I didn't post my schedule for 2012-2013! :D I don't know how I missed posting it. Luckily, I still have the schedule, so I'll post it here in the hopes that it will help some of you! :D

I'll just share that I try hard to stick to the start, end, breakfast, lunch, and recess times routinely in our days. The other time increments I view as guidelines that fluctuate, however those guidelines do help me know if I am lagging way behind in my day. So, for me the times listed really help keep me moving forward on track. :D

Below find our schedules for the 2012-2013 school year. Cole was in his junior year of high school, piloting much of our high school plans for the new high school guides. Shaw was doing MTMM. Greyson was doing Preparing. Beau was doing LHFHG. All of the boys finished their guides by the end of the school year, except Beau who continued to finish his remaining 4 weeks of LHFHG at the beginning of the next school year.

As you can see from the schedule below, I had groups of times where I was overseeing two kiddos (or more at once) with varying subjects. It was a bit chaotic at times, but it did work! :D I needed to have a break built into my schedule mid-afternoon form 1:30-3:30 for work, so this is why the schedule looks the way it does! :D

So here is our current (on paper) 2015 schedule for running LHTH with my 4 yo, partial Beyond with my 7yo (she is taking a slow semester before starting Bigger after Christmas), and Bigger with my 9yo.

A couple of notes about the schedule:
1. I am shifting to a 4-day school week this year. My oldest son, doing Bigger will have shorter days on Fridays, since Bigger is meant to be 5days. that is why I have a M-TH and a Fri schedule.
2. I have some times as markers for me so we stay on track; other things are more of a block or routine, rather than a specific time since we need that flexibility.
3. I am not a morning person, and my kids are great about sleeping in, so we don't start very early!
4. I set the timer for math so that we don't take too long on this subject. It is my oldest's hardest subject. When the timer dings, we put it away and pick up the next day where we left off. This is a big relief to him and helpful to keep our day on track.
5. I am an introvert, so I scheduled a long lunch and an early/consistent stop time.
6. Below our regular schedule I will put our half-speed schedule for starting out.

Full speed schedule (M-TH)
Before school:
Mom wakes up at 7am, dresses, eats, quiet time, starts any meal prep for lunch or dinner if necessary
Kids wake up 8:15. Do their "morning chores" (dressing, making bed, cleaning clothes, a few other random things) before eating

1. 9:00
4yo-momma helps settle on a blanket with a school game/toy of his choosing, then helps others kids
7yo and 9yo- short calendar activity, cursive, spelling (3x/week), grammar

2. 15-20 min timer
4yo- continued play time, some with 7yo
7yo- handwriting workbook and Explode the Code independently, play with 4yo when done
9yo- math

3. 15 min timer
4yo- play with 9yo
7yo- math
9yo -play with 4yo

4. 10:00 (approximately)
4yo- play time with 9yo or independently
7yo- Bible, reading, poetry
9yo- play with 4yo or independently

5. 10:30 (approximately)
4yo- play time with 7yo or independently
7yo- play time with 4yo or independently
9yo- Bible, poetry, History, Rotating Box (left side of Bigger)

6. 11:15 (non- negotiable stop time)
lunch break

7. 12:30
4yo- LHTH
7yo- free
9yo- free

8. 1:00
Storytime. Everyone has their own book. I start with the 4yo and work up to the 9yo. While the 7yo and I read, 9yo puts 4yo to nap.

9. 1:30
4yo- nap
7yo- science or home ec
9yo- reading (eventually DITHOR when he is done with emerging readers), science

Done around 2:30! (Except for Bigger's hymn study which we will do before bed)

FRIDAYS:
9yo- left side of Bigger, science, math games on computer
7yo-handwriting book, math games on computer
4yo-kumon workbooks and a computer game. (Starfall or Boowa and Kwala)

Half-speed for starting out:
For the first unit or two we will start with our same morning routine, then do the above schedule alternating these days
Day 1- no #9 (done after storytime)
Day 2 - no #5; do #9 in that time slot instead (still done after storytime)
We also talked through the whole schedule and skipped some things in #s 1 and 2 on our first day just so we can ease into everything without being overwheled. As they get faster and more independent in a few subjects we will be able to push to full speed with the whole schedule.

Carrie,
It would be soooooo helpful to include in reprints of the TM an approximate time allotment for each box like you posted on here. I always have trouble finding it every yr to use as a guide. Possibly, until then, include a single paper insert inside TM including your disclaimer for being on task, no rabbit trails, and after all are into a flow with the schedule. :D It would really help reduce beginning of year planning when juggling different TM/ children. It at least gives you a goal/ guide to utilize.
Thanks,
