appendix in DITHOR

This is going to sound crazy but how here goes, just exactly how important is the appendix in the DITHOR manual.

I (like most homeschoolers) am trying to pinch pennies wherever I can. I saw a great deal on a used DITHOR set and bought it. Once it arrived I realized that there was no appendix. :shock: I need to know if I am truly missing out on something there.

Any help you can give is appreciated!
