Ancient History ?

Post by crlacey » Thu Mar 04, 2010 3:21 pm

I am looking ahead to the future and trying to see where we are heading. Am I correct when I say that the CTC deals mainly with the Biblical region of history and does not include other cultures such as China and India? Will these cultures be covered in future guides? Also, as far as Egypt's history is concerned, does CTC explain the role that Egyptian's religion played (worshiping other gods) in shaping their history?
Thanks for helping see what lies ahead o our journey.

I can't reply as to CTC since we do that next year, but Preparing does touch on some of the other cultures such as China and the importance of the silk road etc. Also CHOW does talk about how the Ancient Egyptian beliefs shaped their history. Since Preparing is an overview of history there isn't great detail given, but it does cover some of these things.

Thank you. It's good to know that we will be covering at least a little about other cultures. I know there aren't many using CTC, but hopefully someone can help me out with that one.

Crystal,

In Preparing Hearts the Biblical nations, along with Egypt, Greece, Rome, India, Africa, Mexico, European countries, and China are covered. The World Wars are covered along with a discussion of the various countries that played a major role. :D

CTC does cover Egypt as a civilization and as it interacted with the Hebrew people. It also covers the rise and fall of both Greece and Rome and looks closely at those empires. The Assyrians, Phoencians, Babylonians, and Chaldeons are covered as well. All of these cultures are looked at in light of the Bible and Biblical history. :D

In RTR, we look at the crumbling empire of Rome and the spread of the gospel to many nations. The Byzantine Empire, the Ottoman Empire, the Mongol Empire, the Germanic Migrations, Persia, Arabia, Turkey and Constantinople, China, West Africa, the Holy Roman Empire, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Hungary, the Swiss Confederation, Belgium, India, England, Ireland, Russia, France, Scotland, Netherlands, Bohemia, Prussia, Austria, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Japan, Dutch East Indies, Australia, Canada, the Incas (Peru), Aztecs, and North and South America are covered with stories of famous men and women through history in each of those places. :D

I think you'll find that many cultures and countries are represented through the history readings planned within our guides, yet we seek to compare all beliefs to what is laid forth as truth in the Bible. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Thank you so much Carrie. That really helps a lot to know that we will cover so much world history in the future. Sometimes it's tough for me to see the big picture through all the details. I feel much better about the future now.
