I attended the GHEA in Atlanta last spring. I really enjoyed it. I first signed up for it because I thought HOD was going to be there! I had gotten the info. confused with the Expo that came later in the year. I traveled all the way from south Alabama! I'm glad to hear that HOD will actually be there THIS year.

You know, I drove to Atlanta with all three kids (& no husband) to visit my sister in July 2008. 15 hr drive...but we had a blast!! I can't believe that I didn't get lost! Unfortunately I think I would have to stop to go to the bathroom far too often... 4 hrs is a little more doable.

Maybe I'll have to see if Julie has room for me in her bus with curtains, though. That would be fun! (I had a crazy pregnancy dream that I went on a road trip with Julie in a bus with curtains... )

If my sister hadn't moved to N Wisconsin, I'd definitely have to look you up when we visited.

How about a week-long homeschool family camp/retreat/HOD board reunion where we all come your way?

I'd love a great reason to drive part way across the country with our crew :D

Just a crazy idea  but it would be fun, wouldn't it?

I love that idea! :P It would give us a reason to also visit some the Laura Ingalls Wilder's homesteads, Mt Rushmore, etc! ha! At least those are somewhat in the vicinity! :-)

Ah, Ladies! You are so fun! :D

Just to answer a few questions that were asked on the thread. We did consider going to Arizona this year, but it was too close to the next convention we had on our schedule. We have to be home in between conventions, in order to keep our own homeschooling moving forward!

We are going to the GHEA convention this time around, which is different from the one we attended in Atlanta last year. Although we enjoyed the convention last year, we are looking forward to going to the one that is more Bible-centered this year. :D

We typically go to the convention in Kansas City, but on the years when the Minnesota convention is in Rochester, it conflicts with the convention in Kansas City. That is the case this year, which is why we won't be in Kansas City this year. :D

We look forward to seeing any of you that can make it to one of the conventions where we'll be exhibiting. We thoroughly enjoy the chance to meet you in person! :D

Blessings,
Carrie

I would love to see you at ICHE (Illinois Christian Home Educators) June 3-5 in Naperville, IL. You would fit right in! I first looked at some of your books when Rainbow Resources used to sell them at their booth.

We had the opportunity to do just this same thing this past July. The Lord was good and provided us a week free stay in Big Sky, Montana which made the trip possible. I would move to S. Dakota in a heartbeat if it was the Lord's will. Just beautiful in the Black Hills.

We loved the Laura Ingalls Wilder's homesteads. We are currently reading The Long Winter aloud and I think just WOW!!! People had so much character then.

I would be so excited if this ever happened. Even a long weekend would be so neat. We like to go highpointing (visiting the highest point in each state) so we'll be heading your way some time and it would be so cool to meet!

I can go to either the KC or Wichita, KS conventions so hopefully I'll get to see you at one of those in the future!

Oh that would be fun. :D I guess growing a baby is maybe more important than driving 15 hours. But I will still wish you could be there. :D

Nuh...huh....not really...you didn't. Because in the back of your mind you know that going to Phoenix's convention in mid July is absolutely nutty, because it is usually about 112+ degrees. You just didn't want to bear it and I can't blame you.

Last year I got fuel at 10:30 am and it was already 109! And I'm from Tucson! Even I think that's crazy!

That must have been awesome! :-) I'd love to do that someday! My dd has all 9 Little House books and has read them so much that she could probably lead a tour! :-)
