BIGGER - Comment from son

Post by Daisy » Tue Jan 05, 2010 2:35 pm

He walked over to workbox number 3...

"MY FAVORITE!!!"

...grabbed the book, jumped (yes, jumped, grrr) onto the couch, and snuggled down deep. His favorite part of the day are the Eggleston books. He loved hearing about the school teacher, Benezet, today. He drew all kinds of parallels to his own daddy, who is a school teacher.

He remembered a time when my husband helped an elderly man who had fallen off the curb and was unable to get up. No one was helping this man and it was right in downtown with hundreds of people walking down the sidewalk. Ryan said, "My Dad is a school teacher who is just as nice as Benezet was."

Made my day and I'm sure it will make his Dad's day, too.

What a compliment to your dh! You will definitely have to share that with him. A father is SUCH an influence upon his son - what a blessing your dh is such a good example to him. My ds STILL remembers the Eggelston books so fondly from a few years back. In fact, this year when I was organizing all of my books (using your system BTW :D ), he came across "those red books he loved" and was soon in a corner reading rather than helping organize anymore. Positive words are such a pick-me-up to those of us on the board - thanks for sharing! :D

Daisy,

This is a great story! You can be thrilled at the connections your son is making between his books and his life, and your hubby can be proud that his son looks up to him so much. You are definitely doing something right! :D

Thanks so much for sharing. It brightened my day! My boys loved Eggleston too.

Blessings,
Carrie
