My son, who will be doing World Geography this next year, read a Book of Discovery last year as a part of a different curriculum. Are there any possible alternatives to use in place of this spine? Thank you!

I don't see any way you could sub in something else for A Book of Discovery. It is a huge part of the program with assignments tied into it as well as just the flow of what they are studying. It is a very unique look at World Geography and no other resource looks at it the same way.

Thanks for your input! I'll have to think on this, I know he'd rather not read it again. Maybe I could have him listen to the audio on Librivox to change it up.

I don't know if they have redone the Librivox recording, but the one they used to have was not very good. The reader was very difficult to understand. I had wanted to use it for my ds, but there was just no way to use it.

There are 22 resources in the Economy Package alone, so even though the Book of Discovery would be a repeat, the rest would be fresh! Too tough to replace, so either the audio or rereading would suffice. We loved the WG year - the rest of the resources will add a ton of 'freshness' to the year even if Book of Discovery is a repeat! Also, the Living Library was awesome and would add much variety!!
