Has anyone used RtR for younger child while older used SL200

I'm considering switching my youngest over to HOD next year. We've always used Sonlight, but I have a few friends who have recently switched and are really liking HOD. I'm pretty sure my older one will use Sonlight's core 200, which is church history from 33 AD to the present. It would be nice to have the kids have at least some overlap, and the Resurrection to Reformation HOD is at the right level for my youngest. (She will be 12, but be in 7th grade, so I'm thinking we'll add the expansion pack.) I know the levels won't match up exactly, as HOD will cover a lot less time, but I'm wondering if anyone has done this and has any insights for me.
