Ladies,

This next sneak peek comes on the tail end of our sneak peek about the Bible study for the new World Geography guide. :D We are excited to share that as part of our Bible study, we will include a once weekly girl/boy study. :D

We plan to include Practical Happiness by Bob Schultz for the boys and Stepping Heavenward by Elizabeth Prentiss for girls. These books are both full of so much wisdom and Godly Christian counsel that they are not to be missed as part of a teenager's journey toward adulthood. :D

We have used Practical Happiness with our own oldest son when he was a freshman, and we found the advice and stories to be well-timed for our son's life. After reading Stepping Heavenward myself several years ago, I then purchased it as a gift for each of my sisters, my mother, my mother-in-law and my niece. They all loved the story so much that they passed it on to others! I am thrilled to schedule both of these resources within our upcoming Geography guide! :D We pray that your child will be blessed by reading these selections along with doing the Rooted & Grounded study scheduled for the daily Bible study. 8)

Here is a description of each book:
Behind their brave and independent exteriors young men are searching for answers. Without counsel how can they find the path that leads to inner joy and lasting contentment? Practical Happiness: A Young Man's Guide to a Contented Life offers such counsel. Through short, captivating stories, Bob Schultz has crafted a book to lead young men toward a life of contentment that can only be found by seeking the heart of God. Bob writes with a homespun wisdom born out of experience as well as a quest for a closer walk with God. His goal is to help young men chart a smooth course through life by addressing areas of faith, character, and subtleties of attitude that must be adjusted in order to direct them on the path to inner joy and lasting contentment. :D

Chapters address such questions as:
Can I find happiness in a world full of sorrow and uncertainty?
How should I respond when others let me down?
How do others see me?
Will I be able to provide for myself (and my own family) when I leave the protection of my parents?

True happiness is not found in money, power, or fame. It is a precious gift from God, available to all who learn to hear His voice and obey His calling. Practical Happiness will light a fire in the hearts of young men, leading them to a life of personal fulfillment as they draw closer to God. :D

Practical Happiness is an excellent shared experience for fathers and sons or mothers and sons. Questions at the end of each chapter make great discussion starters. :D

Stepping Heavenward is an intimate journal of a young woman who struggles with ordinary daily life just as we do. Her life is a constant endeavor to "step heavenward" as she deals with disappointment, heartache, and tragedy. You'll find it hard to believe that this journal has not been written with your own pen! This treasure of womanly wisdom is crucial for any woman with a heart's desire to know God. :D

Although Stepping Heavenward is fictional, it wasn’t written for the purpose of entertainment. Rather, like Pilgrim’s Progress and In His Steps, it was written to provide spiritual guidance for young women. Through the book, the reader finds encouragement to “step heavenward” herself, in order to make her life a blessing to others and to live with greater love, humility, and godly contentment. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Carrie,
This looks wonderful! I have read Stepping Heavenward with my 2 older daughter-19& 20 and agree that it is delightful. I love the ideas presented in the boy's book. I have a 10 year old ds so in a few years I can engage in the discussions with him. I will have to wait a long while for my 6yo dd. Thank you for your considerations. Thank you for the sneak peek. Tammy

Once again Carrie I love this. I read Stepping Heavenward after I saw you recommend it a few years ago and I really enjoyed it. I look forward to doing the boys book with ds. I can see some of those topics really hitting home with him.

Stepping Heavenward is a beloved friend and a book I read annually. I get all goosebumpy at the thought of sharing it with my daughter!! What fantastic choices for our sons and daughters Carrie; as usual you choose the very things I want to read and study with my children. :D

Elizabeth Prentiss' biography is also a fascinating read and if you love Stepping Heavenward you will likely enjoy reading the story of E.P.'s life written by Sharon James.

Stepping Heavenward is one of the best books I have read in the past five years. It made me grow spiritually. What a beautiful choice for a young lady growing into womanhood.

As usual I am in awe of your gift of choosing Godly books for us to teach our children. The boy one sounds wonderful. :D

Blessings,
Carin
