So excited!

Post by psreit » Tue Oct 23, 2012 8:56 am

My dd was born with CP and has had struggles in different areas of learning, including fine motor and hand-eye skills. She has always loved art, although her projects were usually blobs of color or scribbles on her paper. While I was at a yard sale on Friday, she walked to a stable nearby. The lady there opened the door so my dd could see the horse inside. She went to the van and got her notebook and started drawing the horse!! I was impressed, to say the least. This wasn't even from a 'how to draw' book! She just looked at the horse and started drawing it. It was on lined paper, so I told Angie she should have a drawing tablet with blank paper. I gave her a drawing tablet. Yesterday when we went to the library, she wanted some 'how to draw' books. On her own, she took her drawing tablet and went at it. She started drawing animals. I have included the picture of the horse and one of the animals she drew last evening. I had to share this to hopefully give encouragement to those who have a child with some learning disablities. Sometimes it takes awhile, but there will be progress. This is HUGE in my eyes! I'm so excited!! :D :D

Thanks for sharing! These are beautiful, and even more so with the story you told about your daughter :)

That is awesome! My kids happen to see the drawings as I was reading and they were really impressed. I could hear them one at a time say, "Wow, look at the owl", "Look at the bird", "Who did these?" "They are great drawings". :) She did a great job!!!

Progress is exciting, especially when the path has not been easy. Congrats, mom! I love the pictures. Tell her she is doing a great job!

Praise God! It is so wonderful how things seem to simply click. It is as though the Lord flips a switch inside of our dear ones and they suddenly are able to put it together.

Your precious one did beautifully.

How exciting! It is incredible when our kiddos that struggle suddenly are able to do something that has been a challenge for them.

Angie wanted to say "thank you for saying these special things that touched my heart". :!: Her exact words. The exclamation was hers, too. :) I know your words will be an encouragement to her to try new things. They really did mean a lot to her. She even wanted to draw some more for me to post, but I told her that 'thank you' was enough. :)

I LOVED reading this and seeing Angie's neat drawings! Tell her I have dibs on the cat. I love cats, and hers is sure cute! She is a precious little gal, and you can both feel so proud of her here! :D Looking down the road, Angie is sure to LOVE the nature journal in MTMM! She'll be right at home sketching God's creation all around her. :D More fun, and more progress, and more happy days are ahead. Thanks for sharing here! :D

Thanks for the positive responses.
Julie, Angie said she would probably make another cat.(Probably so you can have one) I thought there was a guide, or guides, that got into more drawing. If the Lord tarries, it will be interesting to see how well she is drawing when she gets to MTMM. :D
