Italic Cursive versus Cheerful Cursive?

Post by LovingJesus » Mon Jul 09, 2012 3:20 pm

We are so looking forward to starting HOD with Preparing and LHFHG in the fall! :D

My ds9 did Italic book D Cursive, this past school year. He enjoys writing in it, and will do it voluntarily. I like the look since it is easy to read. However, at the years end I realized that he still was unable to read Grandma's Birthday card in cursive. So I am wondering if it would be a good idea to take him through Cheerful Cursive this school year. He really likes Italic cursive, and is not desirous of writing traditional cursive. I do want him, however, to be able to read it for a variety of reasons.

For those of you who have used Italic how did you teach them to read traditional cursive?

Do I need to switch for a year and then switch back?

What do people do after Italic D?

Thank you!
Carin
