My ds will be using Typing Instructor for Kids next year. It uses a game format to teach. My niece really enjoyed using it.

We used Typing Instructor too, but not until later in grade 4.
I've done all the guides now with at least one child and still feeling the HOD LOVE. LOL!

All my kids have use Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing. It is a CD-rom program. It has lessons and games for practice. When you are learning, it shows a keyboard on the screen with semi-transparent hands which show you which finger to use and where the key is. My kids love it and my older two type faster than I do now. We started in 4th grade.

We just looked online to buy Typing Instructor for Kids. I think you might be able to just download it, but we ordered it to be mailed to us. My son didn't seem ready for it this year (gr. 3) so we are going to try again next year in gr. 4. But I know my niece was ready at a younger age.

This is what we use and it's really fun and a good program... even my 5yo knows where the letters on the keyboard are, and we've only used it maybe 10 times?
