Funny! Key to the Treasure

Post by Tracee » Fri Sep 07, 2012 11:57 am

Today my ds asked if I could read Key to the Treasure during lunch. I usually don't do that, because my little ones will hear it next year. When I looked at the cover of the book, I thought there was a little resemblance to my kids, but I wasn't sure if it was three friends or siblings. Well, we started reading and it is almost just like our family....3 kids very close in age with a boy and then boy/girl twins. In the story they are all only about a year apart, and my kids are two years apart. Well, we are all hooked now, so it looks like we will need to find something else for the twins to read next year.

Here are some pictures of them.

I told them to look surprised like the just found the treasure on the map. LOL

How fun! There is quite a resemblance. It is a series so you can always read one of the others in the series next year or choose one of the other storytime books from the other collections. We really enjoyed Key to the Treasure, and it led us to read the rest of the series. :D

Aww! Definitely a resemblance there. Since a pp mentioned it is a series perhaps you just happened upon a new lunchtime routine.

I cannot waaaaait to get to beyond (and beyond that!) and more books. My son and I both love books. :)

Is this treasure book in dithor or one of the guides?

Oh good, it's a series. Yes, we might have a new lunchtime routine. Raindrops, it's part of the boys storytime collection in Beyond. You will love Beyond!

Reeeeeeally... <rubs hands together> it isn't on the list in my catalog so I will write in that title. What genre is it under? Action? Mystery? LOL I want all those books, all 3 sets. How to decide?!

Can't wait to read the book with your kiddos in it. Hehe.

My ds LOVED that book. It's in the mystery genre. I had him attempt to solve the puzzles on his own first before we read on in the story. Oh, it was great fun!

This sounds like a fun book! I think I will write this one down as well. We are new to HOD and my ds is doing Beyond, but I didn't see this book when I ordered. Do they change every year? Is there any other books that aren't in the catalog that use to be that you would suggest?

My kids love books, so it is always good to have extra around.
Thanks.

I think Key to Treasure went out of print so it was replaced in the catalog with Who Stole the Wizard of Oz. I think they usually don't change the books unless one goes out of print. I'm sure the new book is great too. We haven't read it yet, but I did get a copy, even though we are past Beyond. Any of the books Carrie chooses are fantastic. :D

There are used copies floating around out there. So you should be able to find one if you keep your eyes open. :D
