Gotpeace91: Your ds is only 12???? My he looks so much older and his voice has already changed! My 11 year old is dying for his voice to change! LOL

Your kiddoes reading their poems reminded me...every Friday night, we have a Poetry Reading. The kids get up in front of us and read (or recite) their poems and show off their paintings. Sometimes, we get silly and all do something...other times, we are very serious and I pick something from my days as an English major in college to read back to them. This has really enriched our family time on Friday nights. We are enjoying these guides so much. Thank you Carrie! It is not just the lesson plans, it is the way this curriculum speaks to and weaves itself into our lives. It is wonderful!

Rebecca, I know! Waaa! He really grew up so much over the last year! His hands and feet look so manly now. He turns 13 on Nov. 8th. I am very tall (5'11") so looking older than you are kind of happens in my family. All 3 of my children have always been taller than their peers. My oldest ds (21) towers over me and it looks like middle ds is working on that too.

Poetry Night sounds like a lot of fun. My dh (bless his heart) is not remotely interested in that kind of thing but he does listen to their poetry readings and gives the dutiful "Good Job" at the end. Most of the bookish stuff happens with me during the day. :D

Leah, Rebecca, and Lynn--it's great to see your CTC adventures! I love that we are all doing this together this year, so we can share our journeys and learning here. :)

I love the idea of videotaping the poetry reading, too! I don't know how to put things online like that yet, but it may help our dd to learn to read with more emotion and inflection if she can see herself doing it. Thanks for the great idea!

Stephanie, I agree with the others! That video of your son singing is SO precious! He did a great job! He's a great reader too! There were some hard words in that hymn.

Thanks everyone! He wasn't actually reading it he just wanted to hold the book. I think he could read most of the words but some of them he was just so familiar with the hymn that when it got to them he could figure out the word by the first few letters.
