Hi,

Let me introduce myself - Becky and the boys J and C.

J is 6 years old, recently lost 3 teeth and another ready to go. This makes telling if he is reading "th" accurate or not very tricky  Math is his thing, he loves it. He is doing good in reading. (my friend, a reading teacher from public school system, says he is right where he "should be" ) We are on lesson 8 of the reading lesson, doing about 2 pages three times a week and on the other days reviewing previous stories or word pages. He needs the extra review. I was really happy to get the recommendation from HOD for The Reading Lesson as I was struggling to find a phonics program that worked for him. We started it this summer and he went from not liking reading to phonics being a very close second to math! He loves the history lessons and story time.

C is 5 years old. Reading is his thing. *If* he is interested, he will just pick it up and read it. He was reading a book about snakes the other day and only needed help on "indigenous"! He loves nature walks and then he will read up on what we just saw. He is doing good in math. He too loves story time and history. A very bright kid, needs motivation though... praying that comes with maturity and I am excited when I read other people's posts about HOD moving kids toward independence and requiring them to do thorough work.

My name is Becky, we live in Florida. So when you see our field trip picture you understand the shorts and t-shirts. I work part-time out of the house. The boys go to activities in the afternoon with a sitter. Her job is to "wear them out"! That is a tall order. The Lord called us to Homeschooling a few years ago. We started officially in the fall of 2013 and did not find HOD until Jan 2014. What a blessing!. Over the spring I kept trying to do some of HOD and still use up other materials I had purchased. After I went to convention in May I decided to lay the other stuff aside and just to HOD... I am now loving Homeschooling and the boys are doing great! We using the Red book - Little Hands, started unit 30 day 1 today. Finished the group stuff on the left hand side. Time to go start 1:1 with each boy before I head into work.

We went on a field trip on Friday to a farm and pumpkin patch... getting to chase and pick up the ducks was the boys highlights... I will attempt to post pics. Sorry if they come out huge!
