Question about dictation
We are using the dictation in Bigger, and my ds usually writes it correctly the first time. When we do it the next day, should I have him repeat the previous days dictation plus do the current dictation for that day or do I just do the current dictation for that day? BTW, he loves writing the dictat...

Re: Preparing question and looking for Catholics
I'm not sure what your dd's skill level is, but we took 2 years to do Beyond. I think it's fine to take 2 years to do a guide. You need to do what works for your family. Are you going to skip the Bigger guide? Although I probably would be considered protestant now, I was born and raised Catholic. I ...

Re: Having some big math problems
Thanks you all so much! That really helps. I've been a huge fan of Singapore. I just love the way it teaches math, but I think I might have to consider other options for her. I'm actually attending a curriculum fair in our area on Friday, so I'll be praying about what to do. Thank you again! Your th...

Having some big math problems
Hi There, My daugther is in Singapore 1A and is having big, big problems. I know it's not the program or my teaching :) , because my other two are in Singapore and doing great! Her twin brother is whizzing through the book. I've mentioned that all my kids have dyslexia, and I think it is part of the...

Re: Textbook for Singapore 1a and b?
I'm not positive, so hopefully others will chime in. I think you only need the workbook for 1A and 1B. I ended up purchasing both and never used the the textbook. I just followed Carrie's activities in the guide.

Re: Bigger Science for 4th grade
Thank you all for your help. I really don't want to miss the living books in Bigger for Science, so I think we will stick with those. DS' reading level will just barely be at the Emerging Readers level, so I don't think we should move into Preparing for Science.

Re: Using Flash Cards w/ dyslexics or other LD
I'm not really sure what is the best way, but I happened to speak with a wonderful lady that might be able to you. She is the creator of a program called IdeaChain. It is mostly for reading comprehension and expressive language disorders, but it apparently helps with math also. My son has dyslexia t...

Bigger Science for 4th grade
I've decided to wait and start Bigger in August or September when my ds will technically be in 4th grade. He will be at the higher end of the guide at 9 years old through the entire guide if we finish in a year. How does the science in Bigger compare to a 4th grade science curriculum? He is definite...

Re: Children's Dictionary with Christian worldview
I just got the Scholastic Children's Dictionary from a local Christian school that closed, and you made me get up and look to see what it says. It defines evolution as 1. The gradual change of living things over thousands of years 2. Gradual change into a different form. But, no pictures just a shor...

Re: 1A or 1B? dd 10 learning issues with math
So, it was the only the word problems that she missed? If that is the case, I would move into 1B. My son has dyslexia, and sometimes the language of the word problems mixes him up. I sit with him and help him through whatever he needs help with. We are getting ready to move into 2B, and he's getting...

Re: Singpore math in Bigger ? facts or no facts ?
We are exactly the same spot in Singapore, and I was wondering the same thing. Some of the facts he has down and some he doesn't. We only have 2 days left of 2A. I looked through 2B yesterday, and the first 12 exercises are addition and subtraction. My son has thrived learning math this way without ...

I'm stuck and confused as to what to do next
We are ready to start Bigger, but I've been holding off for awhile to increase my ds' reading ability. He is severely dyslexic and making great strides, but it is still going to take some time, and he will probably always read a little slower than his peers. Here is my dilemma: He is doing well with...

Re: OT- Bedtime Routine HELP
Oh gosh, you made me laugh. I'm not a night owl, and I'm so tired at night. Usually, my kids are in bed at 8:30. The lights are out, but they are usually in their talking until I come in and say a prayer with them. Once I say the prayer, that's it, no more talking or getting up out of bed for ...

Re: Math Question and Emerging Reader Question
Laura this is the exact problem with my son. He knows the word or even the sound, but sometimes it just won't come out. When he was tested at 6 1/2, his retrieval fluency was that of a 3 1/2 year old. It was pretty low, but this is his biggest problem. When he was younger, he use to stutter because ...
