Re: I'm not getting everything done!!
It will get easier. :) You will find your feet. And, nobody will be scarred for life if you occasionally miss a box. :) We didn't get the shield made in week, um, 5 (I think) of RTR. We skipped the wharf activity in Bigger last week because my boys have done this for real at the lake with my dad. Mo...

Re: HOD and aspergers?
Tamara, I appreciated your post very much. Our youngest dd has SPD, APD, and when she was younger, they placed her on the Autism Spectrum, albeit very mildly so. As she grows, I can definitely see more Aspbergers tendencies than true Autism. It's helpful to me to read what those whose older kids hav...

Re: What to do if your kids want to be in on all the fun!?
Everyone around here is always in everyone else's business. It's a bit easier for me to allow this, as mine are further apart in age and, therefore, guide. In theory, the boys are supposed to be doing independent work whenever I'm working with another child on a project or reading aloud. In pr...

Re: Loving The Hands-On Aspect
Ditto - I'd be pretty lost without the hands-on planned for me in HOD. I tend to either go way over the top and end up taking over hands-on projects, or I shoot way too low and the connection isn't there. I'm so thankful HOD plans relevant, fun, doable, time conscious, supply conscious projects! In...

Re: Why are you homeschooling? What are your top 5-10 reason
Note: These aren't in any particular order; some are WAY more important reasons than others! 1. I want every part of their day to be filled with talk about God and His Word. 2. I feel like the one-on-one attention that homeschooling provides will give a much better education than a classroom settin...

Welcome back! I had a similar feeling after we took this past year "off" from HOD to study American history together. It's so nice to be back!

Re: Beefing up the new guide for a 16 year old
You are wanting to know about Revival to Revolution, correct? There are a few threads that talk about beefing it up for high school. This thread is a collection of them: http://www.heartofdakota.com/board3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6571 There's some great info in there. :) HTH! I had to smile at your olde...

Re: Should I go ahead and put dd in Preparing???
I also would not go straight from Beyond to CTC. Way too many skills taught in the guides in between.
Besides, Preparing has been our favorite year so far, so I wouldn't ever recommend anyone skip it!

Re: Introduction,New to HOD and questions please
Welcome! :) Did you check the placement chart to see where she'd fit? http://www.heartofdakota.com/placing-your-child.php My fear in getting a program that is too advanced is not only that it might frustrate her now, but should you choose to continue with HOD, future programs will be increasingly fr...

Re: Sneak Peek at New Guide: Missions to Modern Marvels
Yay!! I love sneak peaks!! Thank you! :D I already own, and was trying to fit into this year, the DNA kit, Tiner's Exploring the World of Chemistry, and Evolution: The Grand Experiment. Hmmm. If we wait and just use them as written for the guide (which would be my preference), then he'll be doing th...

Re: Do your children say their memory verse like this?
Love the pic!!
It's funny, I recently did a blog post on the fact that mine rarely ever just sit in chairs. There isn't much standing on their heads anymore, but that's actually how my oldest son did almost his entire Kindergarten year--on his head.
