Re: Transitioning from MFW ECC to HOD
Hi Carrie, I meant when I added up my initial idea it was TOOOOOOOOO expensive, but your idea is MUCH better and more affordable. I charted it out last night and laid out the sample lesson plans and even pulled together a "new" schedule for us using the HOD lesson plans and we played with it today. ...

Re: Transitioning from MFW ECC to HOD
If you get a chance to pop back and respond, I'd love to hear what you're thinking! Carrie and others... I'm thinking great minds think alike  When I ran the numbers last night, I knew my "idea" was a no go, so I've been re-hashing and I've been really feeling pulled by the Bigger Science pie...

Re: Clarification about Extension Package in Preparing
Okay - so for an older student (11 yo) who is solid on reading I would order the Economy and the Extension, but NOT the deluxe. Is that correct

Re: After Singapore
Thank you for the heads-up. We did a sample of Teaching Textbooks last year and my son loved it, but we decided to go with Singapore, because I couldn't get enough solid reviews on TT. I personally, really like the material and learned a lot from the little bit I did

Placing 11 yo in Rod and Staff
Hi, I've been looking at the Rod and Staff samples and reading posts and I'm still undecided on where I should place my 11 yo (6th grader) in Rod and Staff. I'm trying to decide between Level 3 and Level 4. If he began in Level 4 this would have him finish Level 6 in 8th grade, BUT he has very minim...

Re: Question for Carrie About Ordering HOD Resources "Elsewhere"
HI - I can't remember where the thread is :( , but in another place on this board this very discussion took place and Carrie indicated that her revenues from vendors are not as rewarding as if you purchased from her directly, which is why many curriculum writers only sell directly. Hi there -
Is the Extension Package in Preparing something your child does in lieu of something or in addition to?
Thanks.

Re: Transitioning from MFW ECC to HOD
Hi Jessica, Thanks for your reply. As I've continued to look at this and pray about this. I'm feeling led to go in this direction. I'm going to purchase Little Hands for my 4 year old. She is eager for some structured school time and these materials will be perfect. I'm going to use Beyond Little He...

Re: Science Opinions Please?
Can you tell us the ages of your dc and/or the HOD guides you are considering Good morning - Yes, I've been looking at all the guides. My children are 4, 7, 9, 11. However, as of this morning and with lots of prayer and research I'm leaning towards Beyond with my 7 and 9 year old. Although I do thi...

Re: something's not clicking :-(
Hi Jennifer, Good morning! Let me begin by saying I'm not a HOD user, BUT I have a 9 year old soon to turn 10 and I am very familiar with the materials that are giving your son a challenge. For starters my 9 yo is in Singapore 2A and it is a perfect fit. He moves at a nice clip. He feels confident a...

After Singapore
HI again, I was able to find a thread on the board where Carrie mentioned her oldest son is working in Teaching Textbooks, but have any more comments or thoughts been made as to what math HOD recommends after Singapore? And what is the highest level of Singapore that HOD recommends? Thanks a bunch. ...

Science Opinions Please?
HI there, I've been pouring through the message board to find out about HOD Science. I've found a few comments here and there, but not enough... Tell me. Tell me. How do you like the science portion? Is it living? Is it engaging? How does the hands-on pieces correlate? And what's the ebb and flow? I...

Managing multiple read-alouds
Hi all,
I see that many of you have children in multiple levels. How do you manage all the read alouds and not steal the thunder for the child who has not had that level, yet?

Transitioning from MFW ECC to HOD
HI all, I'm new to the board and to HOD. I've been reading a great deal about HOD in just the last week and am quite excited by what I see. I'm currently using MFW ECC With my 11, 9, and 7 year old sons, but for a variety of reasons which others have already posted I'm interested in exploring using ...
