Yeah! My boxes came!
I ordered Sunday night around midnight, and the boxes arrived today, Wednesday! Wow, now that's some speedy shipping. I ordered Beyond for ds, and he tore into the boxes before I could even get downstairs! He's so excited to start. We are leaving tomorrow for a week at the Lake, so I'll be taking th...

Carrie, please come to SE PA!
Uggh, my cousin just called me from NC after talking to you and getting a personal "guided tour" through HOD. She got to touch the materials and look through them. I'm so jealous! Great, one more reason to be jealous of my cousin - 'course that's another topic and probably one better left alone! LOL...

Advice needed on when to start LHTH
Hi, I'll be starting Beyond with my ds in the fall. My daughter will be three in July. Originally, I thought I would wait and start LHTH when she was four and this next year just do my own preschool thing or follow an online program. Now, I'm wondering if I should start LHTH this year and maybe take...

I agree with what the other posters have mentioned, so I won't repeat that. I do have a small, practical tip that may help. I depends on what motivates your daughter. If she gives you a generic, ho-hum response, I might say to her, "That really was a one-star answer. I bet you could think harder and...

I have to say that when I taught fourth grade at ps, my students used to love to study health concepts and how their body systems worked. I would combine many health topics when I would teach the different body systemsin science class. My students were the most attentive and involved in those lesson...

How about getting her a bunch of picture books with the read-along tapes? You can get them really cheap at consignment shops, yard sales, etc. because not many people use tape recorders anymore. She would be able to enjoy "reading" stories without all the struggle with decoding. She can try to read ...

Yes, I do use this workbook with my son. He is just finishing up 1A and will begin 2A soon. It is aptly named. My son is quite bright with math and picks up concepts quickly, so he really enjoys the challenging problems. I use it as a supplement and as a change of pace. One workbook lasts for the wh...

2A would be the next level after 1B. I am just finishing up 1A and will start 1B. I have a suggestion though - for what it's worth. Singapore has a different approach than many other programs. Mental math is stressed early. My son already can add and subtract double digit by single digit problems in...

A big thank you and more ????s
First, I'd like to thank Carrie and the other ladies who took the time to answer several of my questions I've recently posted about these programs. I have only recently discovered HOD, and it through a monkey wrench into my plans! I was having a gnawing sense that I wasn't providing the education I ...

Is there really enough "meat" in the Beyond progra
Hi, I'm pouring over a couple of curricula out there and am trying to make the best fit. The other program I'm currently with has major WOW factor when it comes to the amount of material and the "coolness" of the books they choose. The amount of material here doesn't even come close to the amount of...

Please tell me why I should use HOD!
This is my first year hs my 6yo ds. I'm using another program that I thought I'd stay with forever. It has a major WOW! factor when you look at all that you get and do during the year. Yet, something is drawing me to this program. Why? What is it that makes this program better than the others? Why w...
