Re: CtoC days- there is a lot to it! :-)

Thanks, Lourdes...I need to come to grips with the English thing. I am coming from the WTM recommendations, where they just have you plug along at full pace. And I am not sure if I can back off! I am afraid if I don't 'keep up' and then don't follow HOD for the long run, we might be 'behind.' I am j...

Re: CtoC painting/poetry---anyone have photos?

Fabulous! We finished ours before I saw these, but this is great! How helpful is that photo album! I never knew it was there before, how do you get to that from the HOD homepage? Boy, it all looks so fun. I wish my home always looked as fun as those pics! And Rebecca, thank you for the photo! Beauti...

CtoC days- there is a lot to it! :-)

Seriously, I have read on other (unmentionable) boards that CtoC is light. REALLY? Because for us it is taking a full day. A very full day! Granted, we are not doing things exactly as written--we are doing R&S 5 at full pace, Teaching Textbooks 6 math. We aren't even doing DITHR, and we haven't been...

CtoC painting/poetry---anyone have photos?

My son is wondering what the spring is supposed to look like, is having trouble envisioning the outcome. Has anyone done this painting (unit 2) and could post pics? Or direct us to a blog where there are pics? THANKS!

Re: Handling Irritations

I can speak to this. I have only just recently realized how short tempered I have been. A few weeks ago, I began a tough workout every day. I am AMAZED at the change in my attitude toward my children, schooling, and in general. I think that for so long I have emptied myself, done nothing for myself,...

Re: Possibly Beefing up Bigger....

I am not sure I would put my son into Bigger at that age, I tried it last year with him and it was just not enough. I was trying to combine him with his sister. He was 9.5 at the time. But if that is best for your family situation, and I understand your reasoning, I would use the Sonlight catalog co...

Re: All About Spelling users

I adore AAS for my daughter. I tried dictation, spelling lists, AVKO Seq Spelling, Spelling WOrkout. None of those have helped her anywhere NEAR as much as AAS. I consider it almost miraculous for her! I think copywork and dictation are important, too. We use those daily. But I personally believe AA...

Re: Scheduling Rod and Staff

I have a question along these lines...I am having a hard time going half pace in RS 5. My son has done RS since 2nd grade, and he is used to it. Trying to decide if I can really go half pace and not freak out. HA! So, if we do the grade 5 book over 2 years (5th and 6th grades), then in grade 7 we wo...

Planning purchases for CtoC- can you tell me when books are

Hi! I have a question for those using CtoC. I am planning my orders, and would like to order things for the first couple of months now, and buy other things later. Can you tell me what week the following books begin to be used in the guide? My guide is not here yet! Some of these are optional, but t...

Preorder shipping question

I have a question...if I order some things and also preorder the RTR guide, do I get charged shipping twice, once for the items in stock and ready to ship, and once for the guide when it ships? THANKS!

Re: Any Orthodox, Catholics or non-Protestants using HOD?

Thank you so much for answering! I appreciate it. This is really important to me, so I wanted as much feedback as I could get. I do have a couple of the spine books that are used in RTR, so I will be reading through them to catch the flavor. I have read parts of both MOH 3 and Story of the Middle Ag...

Any Orthodox, Catholics or non-Protestants using HOD?

I have a few questions about using RTR...since we are Orthodox Christians, our view of the Reformation is a bit different than the Protestant perspective...I want to teach my children about the Reformation, but we just don't see it as something to be glorified. (The reformation was a reaction agains...
