Re: Advice on High school science for my daughter
My daughter turned 12 this spring as we started HOD CtC. She will continue using CtC all next year for 7th grade. We are doing the extensions and the science as written. She had been working a grade ahead prior to starting HOD this spring and while she easily places in a higher guide, I thought she ...

High school world history credit
I'm currently using HOD with my 2 daughters while my son will start his junior year of high school this fall. He will be in marching band so while I support him in continuing with his public education, I would really like to have him do some school at home. So, if he is due for world history this ye...

Here's what Carrie says about the time involved for Res to Ref: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7138&p=51937
You could estimate the teaching time required by adding up the 'together' boxes.

Re: Placement help
Hi Meredith, I am so glad you found HOD just as our family did this spring! Our family has already been very blessed with my 2 daughters, 8 years old using Bigger and 12 years old using CtC. I am not an expert but I would still venture to say that your son may get the most out of Beyond. I so wish I...

Re: Combining Jr/Sr High
My daughter is currently doing Creation to Christ and will work on it next year for 7th grade. We have the economy package, the history read alouds, and the extension books for older students. It has been a great first experience with HOD for my daughter and we are enjoying it so much! Here is where...

Re: New to HOD, question about 7th grader
My daughter started CtC this spring to complete 6th grade and we will use it for most of next year. Truthfully, I selected CtC as my daughter had not had ancient history in years and never from a biblical view. My daughter works ahead of grade level so I feel I can attest to the vigor of this course...

Re: Question about Workbooks for LHFHG
When I received my Rod & Staff workbooks for LHFHG, HOD provides a written schedule. I may just pencil it into the guide. I think you can find the changes on the website, also.

Re: Do I need a schoolroom with HOD?
You absolutely do not need a school room. We had made a beautiful classroom in our finished basement but I have health issues that made it impossible for me to run up and down stairs all day. Our school takes place at our kitchen island in the morning as I read aloud, at the dining room for written ...

Re: CTC with 7th grader questions.
I recently started my 6th grader with CTC and we will take most of her 7th grade to finish. I had asked the same question regarding science. I had intended to use Apologia General Science for 7th grade and I had purchased it before ordering from HOD. I met Carrie and Julie at our recent homeschool c...

Re: worried to continue on!!!
Hi Kim, I also have a little anxiety as this will be my first year administering the CAT with my girls ages 8 and 12. It is my understanding that most achievement tests purposely have content that is not expected to be learned in the present grade. For instance, there will probably be division probl...

I'm so excited for your son! We just started Bigger today and began reading about Columbus. We returned from our trip to Florida on Monday and that would have been so cool to see the replica ships.

Re: Choosing Math
I used to be a top math student but the years have made me rusty. ;) My 8 year old is advancing well and she recntly started Teaching Textbooks. We really like it as she gets immediate feedback on her work. When she gets stuck on more difficult problems, the online course offers her a tip that she m...

Hi Stacey, Thank you for the warm welcome! That's exciting that you will also have a 12 year old dd starting CTC this fall! We definately plan to do the extensions and will start dithor 7/8. Picking a guide for my daughter's 7th grade
I am so happy that God has led me to Heart of Dakota! This is exactly the Christian curriculum that I would like to use in teaching my children. I have picked out LHFHG for my 5 year old son upon completion of My Father's World kindergarten as he turns 6 late summer. Bigger will be a perfect fit for...
