Re: I don't think I can do two guides at once!
I didn't read all the responses here. And I wouldn't want to say that you couldn't combine your kids. BUT, I did want to say that if necessary I really think you could run more than one HOD guide. I've currently got 3 going and have 2 little guys along for the ride. And, while our days are definitel...

Re: Singapore 2A Question
Allison was just finishing 2a a few weeks ago, and I made sure I was close while she was doing the review. After she read the problem, I'd ask, "So, what do you think... Are they wanting us to add something together to solve this problem? Or, are we needing to take something away or see what the dif...

Re: Read aloud - how do you choose?
We do all the storytimes here, too. If I were doing both the Beyond and Bigger guides at the same time, I'd combine storytime because they're both genre-based and you could choose any of the book options from either guide. But, LHFHG's storytime box is based on the Burgess books, and I've seen the f...

Re: Questions about 4 day schooling with LHFHG
We don't worry about the unit fitting Mon-Fri here, and it truly works great! It seems that it doesn't take very long in a school year for something to make it so that your 5 day week gets messed up (even if you're trying to keep it that way). It could be sickness, a trip to Grandma's, a holiday, fi...

Yes - THANK YOU Carrie! This just looks wonderful, and I can't wait to use this with Grant...and the rest down the road! Thanks for planning this study to see the people and their eternal souls as we study our world. I love it!

Re: You Time
I run. And as long as I can stay decently in shape, they can't catch me. Seriously, my exercise time is my chance to mentally recharge. Depending on the season, I am able to break free in the morning before school (like if it's light out and over 30* by 6:30), otherwise I wait until the little...

Oh no!!!
I had one that was gifted with scissors, also. Of course it was Allison....and of course her hair was one of her big projects. Your little one is doing very well with her fine motor skills.

Re: Use with gifted? 3rd and 4th grade daughters
Hi! :D I think that you and your girls will love HOD if you choose to use it. We had a wonderful experience switching from a more textbook approach to learning in the classroom and at home to HOD with my oldest. He was 8 when we started HOD. What I have found is that the more Charlotte Mason approac...

Re: Bigger Hearts hands on math
I would definitely take the placement test on the Singapore website to find the best place to start for your child. :D I switched to Singapore with my oldest for 3rd grade. He had finished Saxon 2, and we took the placement tests. He "passed" the 1A, 1B, and 2A tests. But, on the 2A test, I could se...

Re: Recording oral narration on IPod to be typed a success!
We've had the same issue here with the narration I type not being as interesting as the one they share when we're sitting on the couch enjoying it. I've been wanting an ipod...now it might be a necessity. So...as I'm shopping, will they all do the recording or are there certain ones that will/...

Re: Am I the Only One Who Has.....
One thing I do that may make others gasp though is have the dc write their answers for their Singapore Textbook work right in the their textbooks. It makes the lesson fly by, and the textbooks are inexpensive anyway. Worth every penny to me! :D So there is my shocker to share. We do this too...

Re: Am I the Only One Who Has.....
Love it! :D We're reusing our guides, so we have different colored check marks in the corners of the boxes (some larger than others  ) My kids would love getting to x out the whole box...maybe I'll have to let the little guys do that when they go through. I had no heart palpitations though...m...

Re: Teacher Manual for English 3: Beginning Wisely?
I'll just add a differing opinion. I have the TM, but I really don't feel like we need it. I will do the oral review some with Caroline, but it just doesn't feel necessary for her. BUT, I am an English tutor (although my degree is actually not English), so maybe that makes a difference? I don't kno...
