Re: 2-2.5 hours max

I feel like this post came across with a negative tone towards HOD. I apologize if that is the case. My frustration lies only in my situation: Being new to H'schooling, not understanding how do do everything correctly with my manuals, having hard days, dealing with interruptions, bad attitudes and f...

Re: 2-2.5 hours max

Reflection is such a good thing as it paints the fullest picture of what's going on with our dc. So, going back to the start of Bigger Hearts for your dd, I remember she had great praise for it... (I remember because I loved your post  ): http://www.heartofdakota.com/board3/viewtopic.php?f=6&...

Activities to entertain older siblings

Sorry if this has been asked before. Feel free to post a link to threads if needed. Currently I am schooling my kids at different times during the day. Generally DD goes first (age 9) and DS goes 2nd (age 6). What kinds of things would you have children do at this age when they are not schooling? I ...

Re: 2-2.5 hours max

Marcee, To give you the best guidance, I'd take a look at the placement chart once more and see that your child fits firmly in Bigger Hearts (especially on the first page of the chart). :D Link: http://www.heartofdakota.com/placing-your-child.php The one reason I didn't pick prepared was because of...

Re: 2-2.5 hours max

[quote="pjdobro"] I see there are vocabulary activities in the back of DITHOR. We haven't done any of these yet, but I imagine we will as the year progresses. Did you feel like even the end of the dictation list in Bigger is way too easy for your dd? Yes, she can do the last one with out any problem...

Re: 2-2.5 hours max

That is what it is taking me to school both of my kids! I'm using LHFHG and BHFHG. We do reading at night-maybe 10-15 minutes for DD on her own and 2-3 minutes (if that) for our read-aloud (1 chapter a night). Dictation and Spelling for Bigger are way below DD's level-even in the last Unit. We are ...

DD is bored. What now?

Yesterday I posted about how DD was doing some sloppy work. We talked this morning about how some of her work would have not been up to her teachers standards last year in 2nd grade. She explained that she is SO bored because a lot of the work is stuff she learned in 2nd grade. Her math, English and...

Re: 2-2.5 hours max

Are you using DITHOR? Yes. Are you doing all of the writing and drawing in Bigger? Yes Are you doing an additional vocabulary study besides the usual one in Bigger? We do the one that uses words from History. I know DITHOR says there is one in the appendix, but all I see is character traits. I wond...

John'smom wrote:I'm not familiar with RME. I really can't answer your specific question. I do know that if I child can't hear the differences in sounds then they won't be able to sound things out. See if your library has this book. It may help to look through and use some.
