My middle ds is currently beginning 3B. We finished 3A not so long ago. We did NOT need the IG.

Re: Bible Study/Puberty/CtC and RtR

What about holding off on the RtR stuff until you get there. (That's the beauty of having a guide.) Maybe try something like the Girl's Secret Keeper kit. Take a look at it and read the review at CBD... Just an idea. Many of my girlfriends liked doing this with their maturing daughters. :)

Re: Easter Week

Thank you for sharing Donna! Your words brought tears to my eyes as it is quite obvious that the Lord in His perfect timing has you and your dc right where you need to be! We too have been blessed in our study in Preparing! (BTW - we are on chapter 22 and we're planning to go on vacation soon for 2 ...

Re: Should I start now or wait?

[quote="Tracee"]Thanks! I looked through everything and it is so awesome. I listened to the CD's and I just love them. The devotional is great. I feel so blessed. I might start LHTH and my 5 year old can listen in, and I can still continue with his math, phonics and handwriting. Maybe we should star...

Re: What to use in 10th grade?

Hi Joanne, I have a 13 y.o. who will be 14 in Nov. We plan to use RtR. However, he will be in 8th grade.... I'm a bit confused with the age and grade of your kiddo... We have really enjoyed using HOD guides for my older dc. You will want to add more to your child's science and math in order to make ...

Re: Science

I LOVE how the science and history tie together! BUT, we are finishing WinterPromise Animals and Their Worlds and have done 7 (yes 7) OSS over the past 9 months and [ *I* ]need a break for a bit from animals (we have also done both OSS in the Bigger package). Also, my dd is BIG on science :!: so we...

Re: I hate to even ask this

When we first started HOD we did so with Bigger. We started 1/2 way through the guide and only did the Bible & Corresponding Music/Storytime/History. We didn't even do the rotating boxes of artistic expression/timeline/geography/vocab. BUT we in the process I was able to combine my 3 kiddos and fall...

Re: New to HOD with PHFHG?

Hello and welcome to HOD and Preparing! My 3 boys are also doing Preparing this year! We LOVE it! Since my oldest 2 are 12 & 13 we do everything and they read the extensions on their own. Your boys will have so much fun in this program & I can't wait to hear your reports on it!

Re: What to do for 7th, 5th, & 2nd graders

Thank you both for your responses! I looked at the placement charts like you suggested and it looks as if my 2nd grader would do Bigger, my 5th grader will fall in Preparing or CTC, and the 7th grader will fall in CTC or RTR. The only thing with doing CTC is, that is the same time era we are on rig...

Re: Preparing with a 5th grader

Welcome to HOD! I only to say we LOVE Preparing and we are using it with extensions for 6th & 7th grade. My 3rd grader he also loves it, but it's been a bit of a reach for him in a couple of areas! Personally, I think better suited for 9-12...

Re: I just want to thank HOD for the EXCELLENT customer service

AND I just want to pop in and say thank you for sharing! It is a BIG deal for any business to provide excellent customer service. My previous curriculum provider did NOT and it seemed to consistently come on its discussion-board.... yet the service continued to be poor. It just means so much to me t...

Re: Looking for great books for my 2yo.

You have given me great book ideas before, so I know half of these (or more) you already know about. :) Cindy Too funny! Thank you so much for the great list! It's amazing how quickly you forget and how quickly my house can become inundated with "junk" books! I just need to take the time to s...

Re: CTC and RTR together

Just some food for thought..... There's a big step in what is "required" of your dc from Bigger to Preparing.... I agree with the previous poster that if you are looking to combine that CtC looks very good. You will simply have to eliminate some thing for dd9 and add extensions for dd12. Pray, pray,...

Re: Metric System help!?!

Not sure what you're looking for... Are you using Singapore 2A? I actually purchased a kitchen scale. We weighed things and checked out what packages of peanuts and bags of lentils, etc. had written on them.... It's worth the cost of a $15 kitchen scale!
