Re: Week in Review 11/1 - 11/5
Hi...Woot 5 more units to go and we will wrap up CTC! I have absolutely loved watching my Kasey grow and learn with this guide. I wanted to share these pictures of her artwork from CTC. Somewhere about the middle of the curriculum she discovered pastels and switched to dabbling w/ them instead of th...

Hi..Its been a while..
Hi..I know its been a while since I posted, wanted to update those who knew of our situation. Some may remeber my requests for prayer for my mother who had been diagnosed with lung cancer. Thank you for your prayers.. my mom is once again cancer free. Unfortunately my mom decided to move out from ou...

Re: RTR!!!
YEAH!!! My guide and notebooking pages came yesterday! Beautiful! As I flipped through the guide I can see how well RTR builds off of CTC. I can hardly wait for dd to be able to start (still 9 units away from being done w/ CTC). I think for fun ..in October when we are due to start RTR.. I think we ...

Gotta Share
Got to share :D Yesterday I had the opportunity to share my dd's CTC history note book and her portfolio notebook with our pastor. Grant it, we still have 10 units left to do, but it was a pleasure to show him the work dd has done. At the beginning of our school year last year, I had actually sought...

Re: OT: easy, healthy lunches for picky kids?
OOH my tummy is growling. I personally like to make double batches of spaghetti at dinner, and then portion off the left overs into containers. I store the left overs in the freezer and just reheat when we want it. Same thing with chili, and then pour that over microwaved potatoes for a fast lunch. ...

Re: Praise for Rod & Staff English
Pam, This has been our first using R & S. It has been a refreshing way to teach and learn grammar. The amount of time teaching grammar has been reduced to just maybe 15 min a lesson with majority of the lesson done orally with the white board. Gone is the tedious and repetive worksheets! I would sug...

Re: Grading your childs work
I think if I could have gone back and re-do my oldest dd's early years I would not have focused on grades so much until she hit the 5th grade. However, I also think that whether or not you "grade" may depend on your state's requirements and or homeschool association requirements. My state encourages...

Re: Any more Science needed for older CTC student?
CTC is pretty full as it is written. My dd has enjoyed the science pretty much as it is. We did add to the science by adding in lap books that just extended the learning without taking away from the guide as it is written. You can pm me for the website address for the lapbooks. We used a lapbook tha...

Re: Will not be advancing to the next guide
Hey! Due to life circumstances we too are going to be a little over a year finishing our guide (CTC). My goal is to finish CTC by October and then jump straight into RTR (its in a box by my desk soo itching to start it when the guide comes). Truthfully this is the first school year that I've finally...

Re: Got my CTC box!! Yay!!!
No problem Heather4Him! The coolest thing about HOD is this board. No where else have I ever found the level of support and advice for a curriculum. The ladies here are wonderful and are always willing to offer their own experience and prayers to anyone who asks.
Blessings!

Re: Got my CTC box!! Yay!!!
Hi Heather4Him I started our year reading the read alouds to her. We have only done one extension so far. My dd at the beginning of the year was not an enthusiastic reader, her comphrension skills were not that good (her reading level is coming up progressing from a 4th/5th). As the year progressed ...

Re: Got my CTC box!! Yay!!!
HI! Congrats on box day! We are still working through CTC (14 more units to go). I've watched the love of learning come back into my dd through this school year. Through the use of the program (we used IYW I)I have seen her writing skills go from stagnant to pieces of work just blooming with creativ...
