Re: Question for you adoptive moms...............
We have 7 children. The oldest 2 and youngest 2 are biological, and the 3 right in the middle are adopted. We have a daughter from Bulgaria and 2 sons (bio brothers) from Guatemala. We chose the international route for several reasons, and I am happy to go into more of our story with you if you are ...

Re: Should we start DITHOR this fall, or...
Hello. I have no advice for you, but I do have a ds who is 5 with the exact same scenario. I have used DITHOR, and my ds would definitely not be ready for the writing required in it, and some of the more complex thought type questions in it. So I also would love to know what a good intermediate solu...

Re: Testimony to HOD
Another family here that schooled through the snow days! Our county just had 6 total days of school off in a row! I'm in Northern VA, and altogether during our huge storms, we had 40 inches of snow in my area of NoVA. That was CRAZY! Things are still not back to normal, but the PS kids went ...

Lyrics sheet for Lead Me to the Rock?
Hello ladies. I lost my copy of the lyrics that came with the CD for Lead Me to the Rock. Does anyone have them in a document file that you would be willing to share?

We use two hole punched index cards in an index card binder with alphabet tabs. I found them at Office Depot, I think. We love them because the cards can just be inserted into the right spot.

Re: When to begin a guide?
Last year, we had about 5 weeks of Bigger left when we took a break for the summer. We actually really liked starting back in the Fall with a familiar guide. The kids were already familiar with the level of work expected and the flow of the day. And those things worked together to make starting back...

Re: Timeline samples for Beyond...
Julie, I really like your timeline. I just made a grid in Microsoft Word with the dates across the top and printed it on a standard sheet of paper (8x11) sideways. I made the boxes as big as I could, but they are just not big enough for one of my 2nd graders to fit his writing and drawing. I think I...

Re: A question about dictation
I am interested in the question too. Do you always finish out a level even if the child is finally making no mistakes? It sounds like the answer is just keep going in the level to complete it even if or when it becomes easy. Just to keep up practicing those grammar and spelling concepts.

Re: Half speed?
Hello! We are currently doing Beyond at a half-speed pace. We do something similar to Laurie. We do the right side of Beyond every day for my 2nd graders. For the left side, we do History, Bible Study, and Music one day, and the lower left rotating box (History Activity, Science, Geography, Art, and...

Re: Preparing Hearts is the BEST!
I also wanted to chime in to say how much we are also loving Preparing. We also did Bigger last year, and loved that too. But, I can see my two oldest really beginning to *think* about how the Bible fits with, and in some cases makes much more sense than, the secular history ands science they were a...

I'm also hoping to eventually have here in Virginia at the HEAV conference. I've recommended HOD to anyone who I can. But, it sure would be great for more people here to see it in person as well!

Re: Can I just say I love a program that has my kids cleaning!
 Carrie & water2wine - we just had our "scrubbing day" yesterday too! I had them scrub our kitchen chairs all over, top to bottom, and they loved it. What could be better than that? Now I know I get to look forward to planning a project for when the next 2 kids in line are doing this week of Be...

So amazed and excited I had to share!
My little 26 month old, Lily Jane, always sits in when her two big brothers doing LHFHG are doing Rhymes in Motion and their Bible and music time. Today, as they were throwing a ball to each other and practicing their verse upon catching the ball, she asked for a turn. So, I told the boys to roll it...
