Re: Please ease my mind about my 8.5 yr.old doing Beyond!
The first thing that I noticed reading your post is that you mentioned never in our 6 yrs of homeschooling have I felt such peace and ease throughout the day with a curriculum. . I think that above al you need to listen to that peace. :D And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which als...

Re: Cheerful Cursive
I just thought that I would also add that I originally started with ARFH-C since it had been given to me and I thought why not save a few bucks? It was going okay, but my dd had begun to dread cursive. She had started out loving the idea of cursive, but the book quickly drained that out of her, even...

Re: Just one more reason to love HOD
I probably could have named this threa "101 reasons to love HOD"....I'm sure I could come up with that many! :D But here is #2. Last night my dd8 was looking through some of her school books and said "Mama, when I grow up, I want to use this curriculum to teach my children with. i think it is the be...

Re: End of second week of HOD and we're loving it.
So glad your first two weeks have gone so well! HOD is such a great program! :D I have to agree with previous posters that perhaps Beyond would be a better fit for your ds8. Adding appropriate math, LA and dictation for the left side and add some extra related history/science readers would probably ...

Re: Beyond copywork - looking for ideas for reluctant writer
I have been trying to figure out how I should either print, enlarge, or somehow make it easier for her to read while she's copying. Anyone have thoughts on this? I used to write it out on a large white board with wet-erase markers (ask me how I know to use wet-erase instead of dry erase?!?! ...

Re: Already read extensions....what now?
Even though she already read them, could she read them again, but this time at the slower-scheduled pace? So that she can savor them and gain more understanding from them? Especially in context with the other readings she would be doing along with them?

Re: Beyond copywork - looking for ideas for reluctant writer
At 6 years old I wouldn't worry about her copying too much of the poem at a time. Perhaps only one line if that is all she can neatly do. Or I used to set a timer and my daughter only had to write what she could in the alloted time *IF* she made sure she did her very best work (she did have to finis...

Glad you guys are having such a good time! :D Doing multiple guides isn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. You can do it and still have a day left! When Julie and Carrie get back, they are really really good at helping you figure out how to best and most successfully combine your kiddos if y...

Re: Which Genre are these books?
Another great historical fiction book that would be a great girls interest ( I love this book) is A Gathering of Days by Joan W.Blos. Takes place in early colonial times in NH and is written in diary form. Moving story. Has a little mystery in it so it could possibly pass for that genre as well. Or ...

Re: Map or globe?
We have the exact same - only we only had 1 inflatable globe. It did have blue oceans. But it popped after much use. So, depending on the number of BOYS you have, inflatable globes may not last quite as long... I was going to say dogs....if my kiddos were bouncing an inflatable globe around, I know...
