I do the "piles" thing as well! I'm glad to hear others do it too. I make my "piles" the night before, I'm using LHFHG as a K program for my dd5 and a first grade for my twins ds6 and dd6 so I have about 4 different piles. I give them 30-45 min. in the morning after breakfast to dress, brush teeth a...

Nice to 'meet' you Julie! Your bubbly personality came through in your post! I, too, taught in ps (9 yrs. in first grade) and when I had my twins, they had to go to daycare for me to finish out that year. I was unsure about what I was going to do, but after 1 week in daycare, I went into the princip...

I think Adventures in MFW uses some of the same books from Beyond LHFHG, so you could probably use Bigger HFHG and individualize the math and reading. I don't think it hurts to have more American history. I may be wrong on this, but I think Carrie is working on the next level now, so you may ...

This book is not really about sports, but it's the only realistic fiction book about girls that do unusual things I could think of.....True Heart by Marissa Moss. It's set in 1893 and it's about a girl who becomes a train engineer. There's a note from the author about the Women and the American Rail...

Where to post?
Carrie How do you want us to post if we have a question about a specific curriculum? Do ALL posts start here? For example, if we wanted to do a "check-in" thread for everyone using LHFHG or if we had an idea for one of the units in LHFHG, do we start it here? Just want to make sure! I'm a worrier ab...

Introductions
This is a good idea, to introduce ourselves. I'm Melanie, happily married to dh for almost 15 years, with 3 wonderful dc. Twins (ds and dd) almost 7 and dd 5.5. We are using LHFHG for our K/1st year. We are having a great year! Crystal, I have been to Alaska once, and I have to say, of all the place...

What a wonderful idea! I'm going to remember this for next year. Maybe there should be a place for people to put all their great ideas on this forum (hint, hint). I'm not familiar with the story, but I'm assuming there's a wagon crash? maybe she could push it off the couch or a bed? Looking forward ...

Great for K and 1st
I am using this curriculum this year with my ds and dd twins (6.5, 1st) and dd (5.5, K). We are starting week 5 and so far we are having a blast! I was worried about the Rhymes in Motion...that the kids might find them "cheesy". WRONG! They insist on doing ALL of the rhymes that we have learned EVER...
