Re: Toddlers
That's when we get out the Lauri toys for Gabe. I love those-the ones I try to get him to use during the times I need him really quiet are the puzzle ones. Sometimes I set the timer, get out the paint and/or crayons, and tell him that he has to wait till it dings to show me his picture. Sometimes I ...

Re: Doctrine Specific Devotions etc
We just use anything we come across that we don't agree with as a jumping point for further discussion. :-) This year, however, we've stopped using the devotionals and the Bible reading plan as written because my church has put together a fabulous year long Bible reading/study program, and we are do...

Re: Beyond I have some questions
Hi Sam!! you know, something I've done in the past that made the day go faster was break up the boxes into active and passive activities and then alternate. So like we'd do the poem/rhyme and then sit for the handwriting, get up and do the history or science activity then sit for the Bible study, et...

Re: Beyond Nonfiction: Miller book or Pagoo?
I loved Pagoo, but my boys gave it a "boring!" rating. I guess it doesn't involve bloodshed or bodily functions, so it's not up to their standards.

Re: Need Choosing Help!
I use Bigger with my 13, 10, and 8 year olds. The 13 and the 10 do the extension packs and their own math programs. They both do the Drawn into the heart of reading, and the 8 year old does the emerging readers. I also use the HOD Bigger history for my 15 year old, but I add additional reading from ...

my 2 year old is using it!
My 8 yr old and my 5 yr old have used it, too! It's hilarious when the rhyme jogs their memory, and the insist on doing it too!

Re: Boy Activities for Afternoon Free Time
like the others have said, legos! we do a lot of lego construction. My boys are all active in Boy/Cub Scouts, too, so we work on those things in our off time. We play games (currently yahtzee is a favorite!) do puzzles (we LOVE sudoku!) or jigsaw puzzles, watch videos. I used to have a "quiet bag" w...

Re: DITHOR and book selection
I know we used "My Father's Dragon" for fantasy. that was fun! I also used a book for Folk Tale that my BIL gave my boys called "El Cucuy" or something like that. (I can't put my hands on it right now, of course!) But it was a story about a troll-ish person who lives in the mountains in Mexico (bil ...
