Hi Ladies, Thanks for your input. I did some checking on the Rod & Staff and they do teach reading by both sight and phonics. It looked good to me, but the program was for 1st grade and it looked alittle too much for him right now. I've also heard alot about the Leap Frog DVD's and would like to get...

We do ours on the kitchen table or the couch for reading. We are looking at our family room downstairs trying to figure out the best use for it. Part of it may become a school room, but that changes from day to day. I like the idea of using part of the garage for a play area, but I'd have to send ou...

Phonics vs Sight Reading??

Hello, I'm probably going to show my ignorance here, BUT I've been looking over which phonics will work with my son next year. And have not really found something that has hit me to be "IT". My husband and I may have stumbled over why. My son got a disney Kindergarten computer game for his 5th b-day...

Hi Vickie,
Welcome to the board!

I'm not a really into sports much, but we did just buy my nephew a NC baseball cap for Christmas. He's a huge fan to the dismay of my brother. We like causing turmoil with gifts :D

We haven't used DITHOR, yet, but have read good things about. Enjoy!

Hi Kim! I hope you love this program as much as we do. There are lots of hands on activites - making letters in various things (oil, paint, pudding, etc), Glueing items on letters, some things to print-out Number Pages, Count-on me and Hide-n-Seek pages. All of these use items from around your home....

Little Hands users

Hello, Just wondering what unit everyone is on and if you're having as much fun as I am with this program? We'll be starting Unit 13 next week. We've laughed at our 1yr old slapping her head (not hard) when we say 'Adam can you believe?" I've been wrestled to the ground more than once by my 4 yr old...

We are doing Little Hands and added a K math a little over a month ago. My son says, "I get 2 schools now!" We do math in the morning after breakfast and "chores" (getting dressed and brush teeth) are done. After lunch and 1yr is down for nap we do Little Hands and other things he can think up. We r...

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions and feeling my pain! :D I have been leaning towards Reading Made Easy. My only thing was how much he LOVES doing workbooks and flashcards and how much they really help him learn. I thought about adding some ETC books I have read so much about, but I don't wa...

Little Hearts users I need help choosing phonics

Hello! I've never homeschooled until this year and it's preschool so some have told me I'm not yet so I'm alittle lost with this phonics stuff. I was just given a book and told to learn to read. It was all sight reading - no phonics. I've been looking at the different options for phonics next year f...

Candice, I'm also new to homeschooling and am also overwhelmed with all the choices. We are doing LHTH this year with a K math added with our almost 5 yr son. He loves LHTH which in turn he loves school! Thus, it makes teaching SEEM really easy. Of course, then I start asking is it too easy? Is he l...

I'm a new HS mom, but I would move on. We are using LHTH with our son who will be 5 in Jan. It is just the right pace for him except the math. We got him a K math program this week and are going to use it with the rest of the LHTH book this year.
Hope that helps.

My constantly moving little guy loves this program!

We just started this program, but my 4 year old loves it. He asks me to do school everyday.
