Re: Starting HOD in January!

I pray you will have a successful year to come. I am doing Beyond with my wee guy and we are loving it. It is such a joy to watch them have such fun with school.

Re: Order of books to be read in BHFHG?

You are fine to have read Phyllis Wheatley. We read it for Storytime. In the appendix, is a list of about four books per genre which you can choose from. HTH.

Re: Am I the Only One Who Has.....

After originally reading this thread, we started writing the child's initial in the corner of each box or just beside it. For my girls when I've seen they have finished something, I tick it. It has been great for all of us to see exactly where they are at for the day.

Are you following Carrie's hands on activities in Beyond? I found they were great with my boy grasping this concept.

I would suggest carrying on as you are because the skill of being able to comprehend what they hear read to them is really important. Great that she can comprehend what she is reading, but to be able to do the listening with the comprehending is a big thing that will be a great asset to have as she ...

Re: R&S English?

R&S 4 would probably be a really good place to start as the diagramming is still fairly straight forward and just starts with the basics of diagramming the simple subject and the simple predicate. With R&S, we do most of it orally and a little written. When diagramming, we will often just air paint....

One suggestion you may not have considered is starting CTC with your oldest, Preparing with your younger son, but doing both at half speed for awhile and work your way up.

If you purchased the boy interest pack, use the biography from that set. Don't worry about purchasing the history storytime pack. Just answer the questions from the box with regard to the books you are reading. I'm pretty certain if you look in the introductory area of the guide it will tell you how...

My daughter is above this level too, however she is due to begin week 11 shortly. She has absolutely loved the study. It has engaged her, and the book is used only for about 14 weeks instead of spread over an entire year as the book is designed to be used. The activities, narrations, experiments att...

Re: Singapore Math?

I would place him in 3A. We switched a little over a year ago from MUS. My oldest was 11 at the time and I put her in 4A and she is now doing 5A, whereas my then 9yr old started in 2A and is nearly ready to start 4A. She was able to work through at a faster pace. I am not worried about where they ar...

Re: Question about Math recommendations.

Mamanlait, Thank you so much for that. It has really helped. I will search and see what I can find for after 6B that hopefully won't cost too much. I figure I would rather they have a good grounding than try and get them through in a hurry. We are great over here, blessed to pieces in a beautiful co...
