Re: Matching Curriculum to Grade Levels

We are doing a co-op one day a week, so we are beginning LHFHG only 4 days per week. By doing this, the earlier guides will last more than one year...though we will likely work ahead a bit in math :) I think I read that doing 4 days/week in the early guides extends each guide 9 weeks beyond a typica...

Re: Skipping LHTH?

If you prefer to run the middle of the guide, what about doing LHTH along with the right side of LHFHG? My oldest is 5.5, and he enjoys doing the Bible/drama portion of LHTH with his 3 yr old brother. That way, your dd gets the math/phonics/handwriting that she seems ready to handle, but you're savi...

Re: LHTH or LHFHG

My kids are 5.5, almost 4, and 2. We are doing LHTH right now with my middle son. My oldest just completed MFW K and will be starting LHFHG in August. My oldest loves to sit in on LHTH with his little brother. It's too easy for him, but it makes a great Bible time for both boys. (We do it while the ...

We use the "bed" trick with my 5 yr old, but my friend shared this link. I love the graphic at this site...Bs have bellies, D's don't! ;)

Re: input please

I am doing LHTH with my 3.5 yr old, but my 5 yr old (who's doing MFW K this year) really enjoys listening in and participating in LHTH with the 3 yr old. I think, if you're adding math and phonics, that it will be a great K year for your 5 yr old. LHTH only takes us 20-30 minutes to complete (unless...

Re: what are differences in

I have the 2003 guide. The devotion options are different, and the music is listed by cassette rather than CD. It is easy to sub in the correct replacements. Just do the devotion book of your choice in order, once per unit, and find the correct track on the CD. I can't think of anything else...we ha...

Re: help with 4 yr old

I am using LHTH with my 3.5 yr old because he was so jealous of big brother's school time. My older son is 5, and he's using MFW K (My Father's World) this year. He does love to sit in on LHTH with the 3.5 yr old, but it is too easy for him at 5.5 yrs. If you added in phonics and math, as was alread...

Re: Has anyone used Little Hands for Kindergarten?

My 5 yr old is using MFW K right now, but he loves to tag along with his 3.5 yr old brother in LHTH. I think you'd really enjoy using it as a K program along with other age appropriate lessons for math and phonics!

Here's my 3.5 year old working on activities for LHTH, Unit 2. He is really enjoying this! His big brother (5) is using another program this year because I didn't think he was quite ready for LHFHG yet, but he is also enjoying LHTH right along with little brother! :D Here's a link to the post on my ...

Re: About the new K math

Carrie, I apologize for copying plans from the book. My reason for doing so was because I couldn't visually manage to match activities without doing a whole lot of flipping of pages in both the LHFHG manual AND Essentials at the same time. I figured that, since I wasn't planning to share what I rety...

Re: Rod and Staff vs. Thinking Skills workbooks

I purchased both, as I wasn't sure. My son will be 5.75 when we begin, which is young for 1st grade, but he already does a lot of K level work at just-turned 5, so it was a hard guess without seeing the books. Now that I have looked, he could easily do the R&S books now. The Thinking Skills had some...

Re: About the new K math

Well, it isn't exactly typed in an organized way! :D I just went through the manual, typed the activities in general categories (counting, adding, patterns, shapes, etc.) And then printed and cut into strips. I placed each activity as a bookmarks on the page where it fit best in the curriculum. I am...

Re: About the new K math

I went through the LHFHG manual, typed out my favorite math activities on the computer, printed it, and matched up Carrie's activities with the appropriate lessons in Essential. It took a few hours (split up in a week's time), but I couldn't stand to miss out on Carrie's fun activities - especially ...
