Re: Pencil grip issues
You did say he had a quadruped grip like 4 finger grip? He may be shifting to the wrapped thumb because his hands have grown up and that isn't comfortable/working anymore. But I'd be as mystified as you :-) I hold my pencil in a 3 finger grip... Now I wonder if that is write... pun intended... I'm s...

Re: Pencil grip issues
To help the child relax so they aren't working so hard. Make sure there feet are flat on the ground/footstool. No feet dangling, stick a foot stool or stack of books so the feet can push down as they write. I know it sounds odd but it works to help them relax. Place a pillow behind them so they are ...

Re: Pencil grip issues

We had much better success with the claw. link to cheapest one I found on internet. http://www.especialneeds.com/aba-and-autism-pencils-and-grips-the-writing-claw.html?utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=cpc&utm_...

Re: Goals before Christmas break
We just finished Unit 18 I wanted to be on 19 but were really close. Yes I am behind on my blogging
taking 2 weeks off and starting 19 in January. We will probably spent one month working on Fridays to add an extra week of vacation to our schedule. But as of now we are on vacation.

Re: Help choosing curriculum - Bigger Hearts or Preparing He
I would say combine in Bigger since its such a hefty year I'd not want the younger one to miss it. Then totally beef up bigger with more reading and narration practice for the older one. If she is struggling give her accommodations till she is up to speed. I hope you find the "ease of use" a good fi...

Re: Suggestions for my situation?
I would not push the Adoptee to be on target. I think your plan of keeping them with younger crowd is a good plan. Keep doing all the attachment activities as "school" with them. I have a "young" 13 year old and take it from me trying to get them "on age" is just asking for heart break. Getting the ...

Re: Different maths for different kids?
For a long time I had one in Singapore and the other in Math-U-See or Hays or...fill in blank... trying desperately to find something that worked for DD1. Which eventually was this odd program called visual math which, happily can be used in conjunction with any math program. This year I have both o...

Re: Question about Extensions
For us in CTC I'm using the storytime books as the extension package, DD1 listens in and then reads it her self and she gets an additional written assignment on the extension book 3 days a week. Some days it's a paragraph or a comic strip or spoken and I scribe, then give it to her to type up. She t...
