Re: Cursive Question (for Julie and others)

What a good discussion this is here! :D Some very good thoughts have been shared, and you and your dh can weigh what's best for your ds considering all the different thoughts represented. I'll add my 2 cents to the thread, and you can ponder that as well. Since ds has already been through multiple ...

Re: Cursive Question (for Julie and others)

Thanks for your responses, Ladies! :D My husband and I talked about this for a while last night and we're leaning toward letting him print. In a perfect world, I think he would master cursive, but like the pp said: there are just other areas that are more important for him. My husband, himself, neve...

Cursive Question (for Julie and others)

Hi, Ladies! My son is 10 and starting Preparing. He's been through Cheerful Cursive, and also Handwriting without Tears' two cursive books because he didn't quite "get" cursive at first. Today was the first day he was supposed to do cursive copywork, and it was extremely difficult for him. I seem to...

Re: Alternative to half speed-anyone else do this?

I think your idea sounds great! :) I'm going to start my 5 1/2 year old in LHFHG soon. I don't want to finish it in a year, but not necessarily take a whole 2 years. So my goal is also going to be getting three days done per week. We plan on doing school for four days per week, so sometimes we might...

Re: question about Substitution in my order....

I guess I can't tell you for certain, but I can let you know that in the past I've made substitutions by putting a comment like you did and everything came through perfectly. I don't think it would come through on the order confirmation because that is just an automatic email. When the order is pack...

Re: How should I deal with errors in copywork?

Ideally we should WATCH them do their copywork and gently stop and correct them AS THEY MAKE THE MISTAKE. Does that make sense? I would LOVE to be able to watch my son do his copywork. When we start up Preparing in about a week, I plan to sit with my son for everything, including copywork. I'll do ...

Sorry, Gwenny ... I didn't see your question, but I know that Preparing has it. I haven't done any of the older guides yet. :D

Re: Need Help with Copying

Maybe someday, when Carrie has more time, she could make .pdf's available of the poems, etc. for purchasers for the Teacher's Guides! :D That would be great! :)

Re: Need Help with Copying

I'm curious too! I prefer to copy at home, but really don't like the gray lines on the side that tend to show up.

For the Science Lab Sheet, I just made a similar one on my computer to print out.

Re: My kids need some focused remediation so should I...

I think you could really go either way, but it seems reasonable to me to spend the summer really focussing on the spelling issues. That's probably what I'd do in your situation. Maybe you could start HOD in September half speed if your still working on the spelling issues, then try to get to full sp...

Re: Buy Books or Use Library??

Personally, if my husband suggested that I go ahead and buy the book packs, that's what I'd do. Your children may enjoy re-reading these books independently when they are older anyway! :D On the other hand, if it would be hard financially to purchase the books and my husband was reluctant to purchas...

Re: How should I deal with errors in copywork?

Brandi, this is very helpful. I think I just have to gauge what's going on with my son. If he's really trying, then I think just correcting the error(s) is good enough.

Thank you so much for helping me! :D
