Re: Preparing: Independent History and Extension Question

I'm so glad you had the chance to talk to your son. I wonder if you can find some other history books at his level that he could read in his spare time. It sounds like he is happy with the amount of writing he is doing now, and I would imagine there would be more copywork/writing in Preparing, so ke...

Re: Preparing: Independent History and Extension Question

Hi there, I have been reading through this since you first posted. I see you are really struggling with yourself being content with the level your son is at. Can I ask (please ignore me if you want) how does your son feel about the work he is doing? Does he feel he is at a level he is being challeng...

Re: What grade do you consider your 12 year old?

Sorry, I'm threadjacking here a little. If your children were born in April 2001, July 2003 and October 2005, what grades would they be in? I am guessing Grade 5, Grade 3 and Grade 1. If I am wrong could you please correct me.

Re: Let me hear you sing the praises of RevtoRev!!!

Carrie, Mom25 and Julie, what a joy to read your posts. I read things like this and I get so excited with what my children are going to be able to do.

Re: Question about Preparing.

Thank you Julie for suggesting getting my oldest DD to do more independently. She is quite independent already, and I think I will aim to get her as independent as possible and moving through faster if she can. I have wondered how much extra time the extension work should be taking. My younger DD is...

Re: A big thank you to Carrie

This is my 2nd year with HOD. We did Bigger last year and are on Preparing this year with my kids, 2 years apart. I am so thankful to Carrie for all the hard work that went into writing this curriculum. Just today, as the kids were doing their scheduled quiet time I was praying for them, and it daw...

Re: Another confirmation that HOD is perfect for ds

How awesome to hear this. It gives me such hope for my son. Although he is only 6, I do feel with his verbal issues now, and the way we need to work with him to get his speech and grammar correct, will mean that HOD will be the perfect fit for him. We are unable to afford to get a program for DS jus...

Re: Question about Preparing.

Thank you both for your advice. I keep looking into it to see whether my 8 year old will be ok doing Preparing full-speed and I really do think she will be ok. I do think we will start her a little slower at the beginning but I do think it will not take her long to get into it full-speed. DD1 on the...

Re: New here.

Thank you for the welcomes. I am getting more and more excited. We have finished school for the year, and have a little over two weeks to make the Christmas gifts, catch up with people and get the house ready before we head off for two weeks to the North Island to have our first Christmas with my fa...

Re: How do you do the storytime in your guides?

Thank you ladies, that is awesome. The first half of the year shouldn't be too difficult but I am hoping to get an HOD guide for my 6yr old son mid next year. I think it will be great for him, but we just can't afford to do both right now.

Question about Preparing.

Now, I have already decided that Preparing is going to best suit us for our debut into HOD, but I have two girls aged 8 and 10. My 10 year old is going on 11, and is probably advanced in term of grade level, so I have decided to get the extension books for her. But my 8 year old is what I would call...

Re: Kiddos LOVE read alouds from Beyond choices!

This is what really highlights to me how much I am going to enjoy using HOD. I love sharing books with my children, but to have wonderful selections that have been chosen to accompany the work they are doing just sounds even better.

I am so looking forward to next year.
