Re: New and would like input on my plan for this year

Another option for you. Do LHTH as written this year and do LHFHG next year. LHTH I think is enough for Kindergarten and I know LHFHG is enough for first grade. If you want have them work on Do It Carefully and Finding the Answers, K handwriting this year and next year chose the 1st grade options. F...

Re: Toddler Activities!

Here are some things that have worked in our house. My 2 year old will sit and color at the table while the older 2 work. He then frequently gets down and goes to the playroom to play where he can still see me. I am going to try giving him a different bucket of cars to play with in his room on his n...

Re: My son has autism what do I do now?

Take a deep breath. Move forward as you were planning too. Remember that it is a diagnosis and that does not change who your son is. Your son is your son. He will learn best from the person who knows him the best. If you felt that LHFHG at half speed was best for him before the diagnosis it is still...

Re: Not sure if this will be to hard for my 5 year old

I would reccomend starting with LIttle Hands. I know that it seems easy but he will learn lots. One thing to think about is if he is not ready for Phonics yet Little Hands will give him a good foundation and you will be able to easily add in phonics later in the year if he is ready. Another reason I...

Re: DITHOR with 2 dd ??

I would just pick 3 or 4 books for each daughter and let them choose. I think it would be good for them to be reading different books but in the same genre. Also by you choosing what they can pick from you can push each daughter gently in the way you feel then need to go. I am currently doing the hu...

Re: 5 yr old-how much writing

A couple of fine motor skills/ strengthening activites. Sort objects into egg cartons with tweasers - if to hard use the pincer grasp to start with. Find the object in playdough, goop, clay - use beads, buttons, small animals. My boys love this one. I can't think of anyothers right now - it is getti...

Re: 5 yr old-how much writing

Here are my thoughts. If he is getting bored just practicing letters have him start copying words, Only one or two words to start with. When we moved beyond that I had my son dictate a sentence to me, this was modivating for him. Slowly we moved into copying the Bible verses but I would split it up ...

Re: Started "school" on Monday, and are loving it!!!

I am glad that you are having fun. We loved doing Little Hearts last year. Homeschooling with a newborn and 2 year old - Try to do as much of the "intense" stuff like phonics, math and handwriting while your 2 year old is napping. Get good at reading and feeding. Also remember that it is okay to spl...

Re: Written Narration Help Needed

I haven't done written narrations yet, we aren't there yet. But my thought is if you have the Preparing manual then just use it to give your older dd the steps to doing written narration. That won't change the program for her next year and will give you the guidance needed for doing narration this y...

Re: Notebooks for Beyond?

I picked up one draw and write journal for Beyond. I have him copy his poem in there and do the drawing. I will add in another writing to the same journal as we go thru the year. We are just starting unit 3.

Re: Opinion Poll: Storytime for the new book (after Preparing)

Hi Carrie, As I read through the other responses, I am realizing that I like both options. I love to read about history yet I can see where it might get to be to much for my boys. I love the fact that I have multiple books to choose from in Beyond for story time. I am wondering if it would be possib...
