I was a public school teacher for 7 years, and then I got my master's degree while I was pregnant with my first son. I was job-sharing with my sister and thinking I had the best of both worlds when all of sudden she told me she was going to homeschool the next year. I didn't want to find another job...

I DID IT! I DID IT! And just to prove it, I am giving this link to the post it first worked for me... this has become a monumental moment for me... http://www.heartofdakota.com/board/viewtopic.php?p=2600#2600 I feel frightened to try it here - this posting thread seems to be bad luck for me when it ...

I for one can't say enough good things aobut DITHOR! We've used it for a long time, and we love it. Me too! I still love DITHOR and have used it for quite awhile (even in tutoring before homeschooling). I really like so many parts about it, but like Darci mentioned, the kickoff ideas and the wrap-u...

A part of me really wants to delete this past post, just not to seem like such a complete idiot, but in light of someone else still not getting this (anyone but me?!?), I'm leaving it, and asking a few questions... Which "quote" are you using? Are you at any point copying and pasting things? (This i...

[/quote] Here I Am! We just finished dinner!...     Ok, when you do a quote, the first thing you see is the brackets, I'm going to use parenthesis instead of brackets so you can see, if I use brackets the computer automatically thinks it's a quote... In the top left corner ...

O.k. Why doesn't mine say the person's name I'm quoting? I think that's slightly important, isn't it?!?

Cristi - I'm so glad that you feel a sense of peace about it all, and now you can just get excited to begin! I agree with inHistiming about the copywork. I think it has not only helped my ds's neatness of writing, but it has also turned my ds into a good speller. This still surprises me because he n...

What a fun topic! Here I thought I was a Betty, but perhaps I am an Olive in disguise! I don't write in my guides, other than in the Introduction pages where I note the way I am going to organize things (i.e. either in binder or in sketchbook, etc.). I may go crazy every now and then   ,...

I ditto absolutely everything Lourdes just said! She hit the nail right on the head, and I think that she gave some excellent advice. I think this will be a great balance for your 2 dc with the choices Lourdes mentioned. But, what are you thinking now?

Hi Heidi! It's nice to meet you! I think Carrie answered this so well already. I just wanted to comment on what you said here: this is the kind of curriculum that you actually can handle working on 2 different levels at once. I am doing Little Hearts..., Bigger..., and DITHOR right now, and having a...

Thanks for sharing all the pics! How cute they are! It's so neat you'll be able to look back to that first week years from now and remember it so well by having those precious pictures. What did we do before digital cameras?!? So glad you shared!

HI Cristi! I just wanted to send a warm welcome your way! We're doing Little Hearts for His Glory for the second time now, and you are right in thinking you and your girls are in for a lot of fun! The placement chart will probably help you with any fine-tuning, but from what you've shared so far, I ...

I just wanted to say "hi" to you! I think you've already gotten good advice from these ladies. I agree with imercon that listening to audio books and following along in the accompanying book is an excellent way to increase reading comprehension as well as tracking ability. Blackstone audio has extre...

Hi Sonja! I'm so glad you are here! I am in the 19th. week of Bigger... right now, and from what you've shared so far, I think that would be a good placement for your ds. I think that your son would love all of the short, hands-on activities. They are well-planned out, and he will be able to do all ...
