Re: LHFHG with a hyper 6yo boy?
We did a test run today. It was really hard to get my little guy to focus at times but he had a lot of distractions from his brother and sister who were doing other things and making noise. We got through everything but the math workbook page because the neighbor kids came to the door and I needed t...

Re: Questions about Jacob Have I Loved
I think I remember reading that book as a kid but I do not remember anything about it. As a rule of thumb I try to at least glance at the first chapter of a book before I give it to my kids or read it to them so there are no surprises. I usually can't do beyond that because who has the time to read ...

Re: O/T: Living a Joyful Life?
I have to agree that having joy is often a choice you make. I have been through a lot of unpleasant things in my life and some people would have just thrown in the towel and decided to be miserable. While I am not perfect and I have bad days I *try* to keep joy in my heart and smile through the bad ...

Re: Drawn Into Q's, need help
Yes we have the Early reader Bible. I did forget to pick the bible that goes with Little Hearts though....oops! It is so hard when you have so many options and your cart is so full, it is hard not to overlook something. I missed that bible and the book package for Drawn Into. No big deal we might ac...

Drawn Into Q's, need help
I am trying to read everything over and make sure I am understanding this right I am assuming that the storytime book is different from the book used for the reading choices/drawn into? Correct? We would read one biography together and my DS who will be using Drawn Into will read another on his own....

Re: Our stuff is here....now what?
We have Little Hearts and Bigger hearts with extensions and drawn into the heart of reading. I have everything laid out for Little, that was easy. But figuring everything out for two kids in Bigger is a little more fun. I am trying to figure out what books go with what and when we use them and what ...

I know exactly how you feel. I started out hsing my dd. Then I brought my older ds home from ps. When I did that I had to focus more time on him because he was older and more was required of him from the state. Things probably appeared lopsided. I also had trouble keeping my very hyper yongest ds oc...

How to get them excited?
We have been homeschooling for 5 years and we have yet to have what I would consider a successful year. Yes we have made great strides and my kids have learned but really it all seems like it has been trial and error trying to find our style and groove. I am hoping that the Lord finally has lead me ...

I am very encouraged by your post and I am happy to hear that your husband has no problem picking up the lessons when you work. I do not work a job outside the home but I do take care of my Grandmother-in-law who lives with us. On my husband's days off I often have to bring her to doctors appointmen...

can you skim through and find logical stops for him and make a list for each day? It might mean stopping a couple pages short of the daily goal or reading a couple extra pages. Just an idea.

Re: CTC - watercolor instructions, plz help!
I took a water color painting class when I was a teenager. The advice given so far is good. You don't need much paint at all. A good way to get a nice flowing paint is like someone said the wet on wet technique. Use masking tape to tape down your paper to the table you are working on. Use a clean sp...
