Re: masking tape issue.

Sorry to hear this! We had issues with masking tape residue on our ceramic tile when left on too long, so switched to electrical tape and it works much better.

Re: Sharing special Bible verses for 2013

This is a favorite of mine and became even more special when my mom told me it held special meaning for her dad, too. :D Proverbs 3:5-6 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Kathy

Re: LHFHG: how to organize student work

We kept a binder with tabs for anything that would fit in it and then kept a plastic tub for artwork. I xeroxed anything that involved food so we had a picture of it but weren't keeping food stored anywhere. We also took pictures of the girls doing some of the activities and stored those with the bi...

Re: Do you go to a co op?

We had a co-op in the fall which was once a week for 7 weeks. It was not a problem because we were basically doing Bigger half-speed or three days a week at the most. I was doing it more for being with other kids dd's age. You can always do HOD 4 days a week. It would just take you into the next ye...

If I may piggyback with a question, when are paragraphs taught in R&S?

Thanks!

Hi Laurie,

I'm wondering if the guides going to 4 days a week starting in Preparing will help any? You will have an extra day each week and at some point might be able to use that to keep making forward progress in the guides and work toward "catching up"? Just a thought..

We are in Unit 12 of Beyond with my second grade dd and Unit 18 of LHTH with my pre-K dd. They love the hands-on activities. :D

Re: Teaching Rod and Staff

Thanks, everyone! Your replies have reassured me that I can probably eliminate the class section and just scan it for extra info. if I have the time or inclination. :D It sounds like you have been able to successfully teach the concepts without using that section. I appreciate your help!

Teaching Rod and Staff

Hi, I have been looking over the Rod and Staff teacher manual and need some help understanding the order of teaching it. It is not clear to me if you are supposed to do the teaching in the "Class" section first and then read the student book together, or vice versa. A lot of times it is the same inf...

Re: As we move into high school, the design of the guides...

As we look at other companies who have gone before us, we desire to take a different path from what is already offered. While I hesitate to mention much in the way of comparison to other companies, since the Sonlight teacher's notes where mentioned earlier in the thread as one ideal, I will share t...

Re: As we move into high school, the design of the guides...

Thanks for asking for input, Carrie. It might be helpful to separate into two different lists what the needs for the student will be and what the needs for the parents will be. I, for one, want to have teacher helps in high school. I would like book-specific information and guidance as to what our s...

Re: need HELP with the attitude sin

Hugs, I am just on the cusp of 8 with my older dd, and I have heard that 8 and 9 can be very challenging with girls. It really does sound like there is a problem with obedience and respect here, and personally I would nip that immediately with swift consequences, like netpea said. When my dd shows a...
