What we do...
We will be schooling year round as well. This year we took off a month when baby was born and another few weeks for our international move. We usually take a big chunk of December off and then we will be taking another month for furlough each year as we have to come back to the US to renew our visas...

Thanks for sharing
This brought happy tears to my eyes! I LOVE IT! I love when I have my spiritual eyes open and recognize these moments. Not nearly enough do I notice when God is trying to show me His provision in these simple but meaningful ways. Thank you for sharing that, it blesses me!

Welcome!
Hi Katie! :!: I just wanted to welcome you too! I am a newbie as well and will be starting LHFHG with my first grader and letting my 4 year old tag along with some supplementary stuff. Sounds like our kiddos are the same age. Both of my boys have B-days in June, they will be six and four and then I ...

Think we'll be ready for emerging readers but....
Hi All, I am starting LHFHG with my first grader and I know he will be ready for the emerging readers/schedule pretty soon. So, my question is; is there a way for me to get the emerging reader schedule without buying "Beyond"? We can't afford it right now, and I don't plan on buying "Beyond" until n...

Definition of an "emerging reader"?
Can someone give me some guidelines for what would designate a child as an "emerging reader"? I will only have the LHFHG Guidebook and materials, but my (6 next mo.) son is already reading three and four letter words and sounding out others. Do I need to add some of these early reading books..or am ...

Thanks!
Thanks everyone! I'm glad to hear water2wine that someone else is using LHFHG with a 4 & 6 yr. old. That was my question precisely! :) I will not expect my 4 yr. to do everything we do, unless he wants to. He is easily satisfied with a hunk of playdough or some scissors and paper, but I know he will...
