Re: Handwriting for LHFHG and Bigger??

Ok, good advice! I think I am a little too worried about what to chose, since next year will only be our second year. You ladies are all so helpful to share your experiences. I think with my second son, I am anticipating him to possibly have problems writing and reading, when he really may not have ...

Re: Handwriting for LHFHG and Bigger??

Thanks ladies! I think maybe if I can look at the books at some point that would help. Do they just teach a different "style" of writing? Or is the difference in how it is actually taught?? Do most of you teach cursive in second grade if using Bigger?...or wait till 3rd grade? Also, appreciate the i...

Re: Carrie and Julie's Dad

Just wanted to say our family is so sorry for the loss in your family. It is a blessing though when a saint is welcomed home after a struggle. I agree that God often does send us the exact verse that we need to see his grace in times of need. Saying prayers for you all.

LHFHG for K or 1st??

Hi all, Just wondering of those who have used LHFHG.. does it seem more fitted for a K program or 1st grade??.. I know it is child dependent, and there are options for both. My second son just turned 5 and will finish LHTH around May, and he is doing well with it...so deciding if we should go ahead ...

Just realized I will be running 3 guides...!

OK, so for some reason...the timing of things has just now added up for me. So, looking for any advice from any of you ladies that make it work! My oldest (will be 7 in May) will move into Bigger by end of summer/fall. My second son (5 yo) will move into LHFHG around May or June. But somehow I didn'...

Re: When and Where to Start (ages 6 and 4)

Hi, I was pretty much in your position this time last year! So, thought I would share what helped me to figure out what to do. I would buy LHTH now, and start now with your 4yo. Try it out for a few months or so, get the feel of HOD. It is such a sweet and wonderful program. I actually started it ar...

Re: Jashub's Journal

I know the feeling. Sometimes our reading and verses seem meant just for me (and also good for dc too!) So good to get this from your own school program at home! :D

Re: For those who school 4 days a week..?

Good to know we can take our long break even without being finished with the guide. Sometimes I really have to step back and remember that hs'ing is not like ps, and we don't really have to follow their year or schedule... and can take our breaks whenever we want. I just didn't know if it is difficu...

For those who school 4 days a week..?

Hi, Just wondering what your schedule for the year looks like when you do school 4 days/week? We have been doing Beyond and LHTH 4 days a week, we started mid July last year, and we were exactly half way through at Christmas break. We have been doing 6 weeks on, then taking 1 week off, with 2 at Chr...

Re: Bigger and DITHOR for 7yo second grade?

Thanks!...those are very helpful suggestions. I will a little afraid it may be too much, but he has done so well with the ER, I think it will be good, especially with the options of how to slow down if needed. I am looking forward to seeing how he does next year!
