Re: How to i break it to him that he's not going to Kindergarten
All of the ideas given are wonderful. I would also suggest calling your local school board to find the contact for your local homeschool association/group. I never knew there were so many options out there, before I found my group. I also thought just like most people think homeschool kids just stay...

Re: Much HELP needed! :)
My daughter wanted workbooks. I picked up the prek workbook from Walmart, she loved it. It contained mazes, dot to dots, tracing, coloring pages. Fun things that allowed her to feel like she was doing schoolwork.

Re: Opinions on Phonics for LHFHG
We are currently doing The Reading Lesson we are on 10 of the 20. My daughter was 4.5 when we started and she never struggled. I will always use this program, so simple yet impactful.

Re: Reading Made Easy or Reading Lessons
I have to recommend The Reading Lesson. My daughter is halfway through it and she has blown my mind at how much she has absorbed in the last few months. It's simple and gives enough repitition to allow the new rule learned to stick before moving on to the next. I am so happy with this method.

Re: LHFHG - what do I do if DD(young)5 can read?
My daughter is doing The Reading Lesson at the moment. I would recommend the emerging readers, as long as she has a strong foundation in phonics versus just sight word reading.

Re: Future High School Guides
I can't answer the hs curriculum question. Just wanted to let you know you are not the only one preplanning their education. I thought I was the only one preplanning high school before we finished Kindergarten :D What I have learned is as much as you plan life happens so enjoy it. We suffered a brok...

Re: I feel like a homeschool snob
I think spelling errors began to harm when spell check was created and now there is the crutch of grammar check. I actually heard on a movie recently, "there is no reason to learn how to spell because there will always be spell check." UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: 4 days/ 5 days
Thank you for your help. We have joined a homeschool group and once a week we have an all day activity. I have been trying a double up day, but it seems too much for my 5yo. The 4 day weeks will make everything run so much smoother .
